Position Title: Staff Accountant Work Arrangement: Hybrid Position Summary The Staff Accountant supports day-to-day financial operations and helps maintain accurate accounting records, support the close process, and ensure compliance with GAAP and internal controls. This role is ideal for someone who is detail-oriented, analytical, organized, and collaborative, with a strong foundation in accounting principles. Key Responsibilities General Ledger & Close Prepare and record journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and other adjustments. Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for accuracy and completeness. Review financial transactions for proper coding and compliance with accounting policies. Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close activities. Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and investigate variances. Maintain schedules and supporting documentation for assigned accounts. Assist with preparation of financial statements and internal reports. Reporting & Analysis Assist with internal financial reporting for management review. Analyze account activity and identify discrepancies or unusual trends. Support budgeting and forecasting through data preparation and analysis. Audit & Compliance Prepare audit schedules and provide support for internal and external audits. Help ensure compliance with internal controls, accounting standards, and record retention policies. Operational Accounting Support Provide support for accounts payable and accounts receivable activities as needed. Monitor receivable balances and follow up on past-due accounts. Manage collections efforts professionally and in a timely manner, including outreach and follow-up communications. Reconcile customer accounts and resolve billing discrepancies with internal stakeholders. Maintain documentation related to collections activity and payment arrangements. Escalate delinquent accounts according to established procedures. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve accounting-related issues. Participate in process improvement efforts to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required. 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience required; public accounting experience preferred. CPA certification or active pursuit of CPA designation preferred. Working knowledge of GAAP. Proficiency with accounting systems and strong Microsoft Excel skills. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including professional collections communication.
