Location New York, New York Shift: Day (United States of America) Description: Life-Changing Patient Care Occupational Therapists Make It Possible Assistant Head Occupational Therapist Inpatient Rehabilitation & Acute Care Services Full-time / Day Shift NewYork-Presbyterian Columbia University Irving Medical Center We are seeking an Assistant Head OT for the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and Acute Care Services. The Assistant Head OT works under the direction and supervision of the Manager of Occupational Therapy, Head OT, Therapeutic Recreation, and Licensed Creative Arts Therapy at NYP/Columbia, providing clinical and administrative supervision to Occupational Therapy services across the Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit and designated Acute Care programs. In this role, the Assistant Head OT oversees Occupational Therapy services supporting patients across Transplant, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Orthopedics, Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT), and Medicine units , while ensuring the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered care and supporting staff development and departmental initiatives. Additionally, the Assistant Head OT is responsible for evaluating and treating a partial caseload of patients. This is a 5-bed CARF-accredited Inpatient Rehabilitation Unit serving patients at NYP/Columbia. The patient population includes individuals requiring rehabilitation and acute care services with complex medical, neurological, orthopedic, transplant, and oncology-related needs. The shift for this position is Monday-Friday, 8 a.m. • 4 p.m., with weekends/holidays coverage. Preferred: Master's or Doctorate in Occupational Therapy. National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Certification. AOTA Membership. Required: Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy. New York State Occupational Therapy License. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Minimum of five years of experience as a practicing Occupational Therapist with one year of experience in acute care. Demonstrates competency in clinical skills consistent with the level of education, training, and experience. Competency to care for patients based upon the age group treated.
