SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH MANAGER

About the Position: Performs a variety of safety analysis duties as a Safety and Occupational Health Manager. Serves as the Board President for high-priority and complex U.S. Army Ground mishap investigations conducted by the US Army Combat Readiness Center (USACRC). This position is located at Ft. Novosel, Alabama. The geography and climate are ideal for year round military training. Lead multidisciplinary Safety Investigation Boards on worldwide deployments to investigate complex ground mishaps. Analyze systemic mishap data to identify emerging risk trends across the Department of the Army. Formulate safety recommendations for Army-wide dissemination to mitigate latent system failures. Provide technical oversight on draft investigation reports to ensure compliance with Army regulations. Train newly assigned investigators to ensure standardized onboarding and evaluation. Advise military commanders on complex ground mishap prevention and safety operations. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience includes leading complex mishap investigations to determine root causes (e.g., ground, vehicle, industrial, or tactical training mishaps); applying accident classification systems to identify underlying system flaws such as latent failures and system inadequacies; conducting technical quality reviews to ensure accuracy and compliance; and standardizing operating procedures to train and/or guide safety personnel. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-12). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
