Senior Staff Accountant – Real Estate Private Equity Accountants One is partnering with a highly successful real estate private equity investment firm based in Birmingham to identify an experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join their team. This established firm has 16 years of proven success and focuses primarily on self-storage investments , backed by prominent investors outside the traditional venture capital space. Their strong investment platform and entrepreneurial approach allow them to take a strategic and growth-oriented approach to opportunities within the commercial real estate sector. This is an exciting opportunity for an accounting professional with 2–5+ years of experience , particularly someone with a public accounting background, who is interested in building a career within private equity, commercial real estate, and real estate investment . The Opportunity The Senior Staff Accountant will be an integral part of the accounting and finance team, supporting financial reporting, accounting operations, reconciliations, and compliance. This role offers the opportunity to gain valuable exposure to the financial operations of a sophisticated real estate investment platform while working alongside experienced professionals. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, analytical, highly organized, and eager to take on increasing responsibility within a successful organization. Key Responsibilities Support monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close and reporting processes. Prepare and maintain account reconciliations and supporting schedules. Assist with financial statement preparation and analysis. Ensure accounting activities are performed in accordance with GAAP and applicable SEC guidelines . Support audit processes and provide documentation as needed. Analyze financial information and assist with identifying discrepancies and resolving accounting issues. Collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders, including auditors and other advisors. Assist with process improvements and initiatives designed to increase accounting efficiency and accuracy. Maintain accurate financial records and documentation. Utilize accounting software and financial systems to support accounting and reporting activities. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or CPA track preferred. 2–5+ years of progressive accounting experience . Public accounting experience is highly desirable. Exceptional organizational and problem-solving skills with meticulous attention to detail. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal teams and external stakeholders. Proficiency with accounting software and financial systems. Comprehensive understanding of GAAP and SEC guidelines . Experience in Private Equity, Commercial Real Estate, and/or Real Estate Investment is a plus. Yardi experience is a plus.
