Required Application Materials : Resume is required Cover Letter is preferred Job Details Job Summary The Accountant II performs routine accounting assignments for the University.This position plays a key role in preparing, examining, and analyzing financial statements, accounting records, and reports to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to established procedures. Core Responsibilities Applies accounting knowledge.Reviews university departmental work.Performs complex reconciliations. Prepares, examines, audits, and analyzes accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.Prepares month/year-end closing entries and various other reports. Communicates with departmental personnel and assists with departmental questions as needed. Prepares timely, accurate, and complex reconciliations on a monthly basis Assists with the preparation of work papers supporting the monthly/annual financial reports Reviews work of other University departments. Assists in the development of new accounting procedures and methods. Performs other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in business, finance, accounting or related field. At the department's discretion, four (4) years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor's degree. Three (3) years of related work experience. This position may require the ability to maintain the security and integrity of UT San Antonio and its infrastructure per Texas EO-GA-48. Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities General Ledger Accounting Accounts Reconciliation Financial Analysis Accounting Principles and Standards (IFRS, GAAP) Documentation & Records Management Business Process Improvement Financial Risk Management Process Automation Working Conditions Office Environment.Ability to travel to and from meetings, training sessions, or other business-related events.Workdays, areas, and work hours may vary depending on the department's needs. Physical Demands Sedentary work. Exerts up to 10 lbs. of force occasional. This position will work both on campus and remotely in Texas . Travel and parking expenses are the employee’s responsibility. This position is contingent upon a successful background check. Verification of a valid driver’s license and Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) may be completed as applicable.
