Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant | Phoenix, AZ (Onsite) Vaco is partnering with a growing, multi-entity organization in the construction industry to hire a Senior Accountant. This role will support accounting operations across several business units and play a key role in project accounting, job costing, financial reporting, and profitability analysis. Opportunity to support a fast-growing family of businesses across multiple industries High exposure to job costing, WIP schedules, project profitability, and cash flow forecasting Visible role with direct interaction and support of executive leadership Strong opportunity to expand construction accounting expertise Stable organization with long-term growth potential Broad exposure across several operating entities rather than a single company Responsibilities Track labor, material, subcontractor, and equipment costs across active projects Prepare and maintain Work-in-Progress (WIP) schedules and support profitability reporting Assist with budget-to-actual analysis and project cost monitoring Process accounts payable and support vendor management activities Assist with customer invoicing, billing milestones, draw schedules, and collections Manage accounts receivable and customer follow-up Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts Support month-end and year-end close processes Assist with cash flow forecasting and financial reporting Support sales tax reporting, workers' compensation audits, and insurance audits Maintain purchasing and approval controls Participate in process improvement initiatives and operational projects Requirements Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field 3+ years of accounting experience Strong understanding of journal entries, reconciliations, and month-end close Experience with job costing, WIP schedules, and project-based accounting preferred Construction industry experience strongly preferred Experience with QuickBooks, Sage, or similar accounting software Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, project-driven environment Excellent organizational and communication skills Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus Compensation & Benefits $75,000-$90,000 base salary 10% annual bonus opportunity Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision benefits Paid time off and company holidays Strong professional growth opportunities Interested in learning more?
