Ronoc Advisory Group has been engaged to hire a Staff Accountant for a well-established, family-owned business in the Quad Cities. The company is focused on real estate, including leasing operations, development, and the management of its operating companies. It is a multi-EIN organization, and the role is full-time and based in the Quad Cities. Company The business owns and operates a portfolio of real estate and related companies across leasing, development, and property and entity management. Work is detail-oriented, with an emphasis on accurate books, clean consolidations, and reliable reporting across multiple legal entities. The environment values accuracy, integrity, and responsiveness to ownership and outside advisors. Role The Staff Accountant owns the day-to-day accounting for the organization and supports month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close across the entity structure. The position prepares financial reporting packages for ownership and management, reconciles balance-sheet and operating accounts, and maintains the general ledger. The accountant will also book journal entries, track intercompany activity, support audits and lender or partner requests, and help document procedures as the companies grow. Responsibilities Maintain the general ledger across multiple EINs, including journal entries, accruals, prepaid expenses, fixed assets, and intercompany transactions. Reconcile bank accounts, balance-sheet accounts, rent rolls, security deposits, and other operating accounts, and clear reconciling items on a set schedule. Prepare monthly financial packages, including entity-level statements, consolidated or combined reporting, variance commentary, and schedules requested by ownership. Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, including tie-out of leasing activity, development costs, and management-company results. Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, tenant and vendor billing support, and cash application as needed. Prepare audit, tax, lender, and insurance schedules and respond to inquiries from external accountants and advisors. Maintain fixed-asset and loan or note schedules and support capitalization and project-cost tracking for development activity. Document accounting procedures and recommend process improvements that tighten controls without slowing close. Qualifications Strong general accounting skills, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation. Experience with multi-entity accounting, consolidations, or combined reporting. Real estate, property management, leasing, or development experience is preferred. Proficiency in accounting software and Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis. Ability to read a rent roll, a development budget, and a set of entity financials and explain the variances. High attention to detail, sound judgment on internal controls, and comfort working to a close calendar. Clear written and verbal communication, including the ability to present numbers to owners who are not accountants. Ability to work independently and with a small team in a deadline-driven environment. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA or progress toward certification is a plus. Prior experience in a closely held company, public accounting, or a real estate accounting group is beneficial.
