Senior Accountant | Public Accounting Ever fancied running an accounting department without having to buy your own accounting firm? Here's an opportunity that could get you pretty close. This is an established, family owned CPA firm with around 200 accounting clients, a steady stream of new business coming through the door, and a rather nice problem. They've got more work than they can comfortably take on. Which means they're looking for someone who can do more than just keep the books ticking over. You'll have the opportunity to take ownership of client relationships, help shape the accounting department and potentially step into a leadership role as the firm continues to grow. And unlike some firms where career progression depends on someone retiring in 2047, there's a genuine opportunity here. So, what's the job? You'll look after a portfolio of small business clients, handling monthly accounting, financial statements, bookkeeping and general client queries. The clients are a proper mixed bag. Everything from small family businesses to companies turning over $250m. You'll need a solid public accounting background, confidence dealing directly with clients and the ability to manage your own workload without someone looking over your shoulder. Experience with Thomson Reuters Accounting CS would be useful, as would payroll and some tax preparation experience. They're thinking around $75,000 to $100,000, potentially more for someone who can genuinely lead the department. They're also open to someone running their own small practice who fancies swapping the headaches of business ownership for a good salary and the chance to build something. It's an office based position, so you'll need to be comfortable with that.
