Operations Quality Technician

MicroVision, a leader in advanced perception solutions for industrial, security and defense, and automotive applications, seeks an Operations Quality Technician to join our team in Orlando, Fl. This role safeguards product quality on the production floor by performing inspections and measurements, monitoring process performance, and driving the containment and resolution of quality issues. Working closely with Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, and Supply Chain, you will help ensure that our lidar sensors and related hardware consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal requirements, from incoming materials through final shipment. This is a hands-on role for someone who is meticulous, comfortable with precision measurement equipment, and motivated to find root causes rather than treat symptoms. In this role, you will be responsible for: Inspection and Testing  Performing receiving, in-process including soldering, and final inspections of components, sub-assemblies, and finished products against drawings, specifications, and work instructions; operating and maintaining precision measurement and test equipment • calipers, micrometers, height gauges, optical comparators, vision systems, CMMs, and functional or optical test stations; conducting first article inspections (FAI) and supporting layout inspections for new parts, suppliers, and engineering changes; and accurately recording inspection results and maintaining traceability of inspected material, including lot and serial number records. Nonconformance and Corrective Action  Identifying, documenting, segregating, and tagging nonconforming material, and initiating NCRs in the quality management system; leading/supporting containment actions, including sorting, rework verification, and quarantine control; participating in MRB activities and supporting disposition of nonconforming product; and collecting data and assisting engineers with root cause analysis (5 Whys, fishbone/Ishikawa, 8D) and verifying the effectiveness of CAPA.  Process Quality and Monitoring  Performing process audits, LPAs, and product audits on the production line; monitoring key characteristics using statistical process control; flagging trends and out-of-control conditions to Production and Quality Engineering; Supporting MSA, including Gage R&R studies, and ensuring inspection equipment is calibrated and fit for use; and  Verifying production follows control plans, work instructions, and PFMEA-defined controls.  Documentation and Compliance  Maintaining accurate quality records in accordance with ISO 9001 and IATF16949 requirements; assisting in preparing PPAP documentation, inspection reports, and certificates of conformance;  supporting audits and helping close audit findings; and  drafting and updating inspection instructions, checklists, and visual aids for operators.  Continuous Improvement and Collaboration  Training production operators on quality standards, defect recognition, and inspection methods; participating in continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen) to reduce scrap, rework, and customer complaints; supporting supplier quality activities, including incoming defect reporting and SCARs; and  Promoting a safe, clean, and ESD-compliant work environment.    To be successful in this role requires at least a HS diploma/GED or equivalent, tough an associate's degree or technical certificate in quality, manufacturing, mechanical, or electronics technology is strongly preferred;  5+ years of experience in a quality inspection or quality technician role within a manufacturing environment;  the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, including GD&T;  proficiency with manual precision measurement tools and inspection techniques;  working knowledge of quality management systems such as ISO 9001; demonstrated skills in software tools, including MS Excel, Word, and ERP or QMS software.  Strong attention to detail, clear written and verbal communication, and the ability to work independently and in teams.  Even better if you have:  experience in automotive, electronics, optics, or precision electromechanical manufacturing;  familiarity with IATF 16949 and AIAG core tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA);   CMM programming or operation experience (e.g., Zeiss Calypso, PC-DMIS) and/or automated vision inspection;  experience with optical components, PCBA inspection (IPC-A-610), or cleanroom and ESD-controlled environments; and/or ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT) or Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or Six Sigma Yellow/Green Belt.    MicroVision is proud to offer a comprehensive benefit program.  Find details here.
