Position Overview Mechanical Sales is seeking a Sales Tax Manager to oversee sales tax compliance across our multi-state, multi-entity organization. Reporting directly to the CFO, this position is responsible for accurate and timely tax filings, performing sales tax research and drafting sales tax positions, managing audits, evaluating tax exposure, and establishing consistent processes across entities and locations. This position will be a key contributor in our ERP implementation project leading the integration between Oracle NetSuite and Avalara and performing robust testing prior to deployment. This position is ideal for someone who combines strong technical tax knowledge with a practical approach to solving problems, improving systems, and supporting business operations. Primary Responsibilities Manage accurate, timely sales tax filings and payments across all applicable entities and jurisdictions Maintain tax registrations, compliance calendars, and exemption certificates Monitor nexus requirements and tax law changes affecting the business Review transaction taxability for proper sales and use tax treatment Reconcile tax accounts and support month-end and year-end close Manage audits, tax notices, refunds, and corrective actions with external advisors Improve tax controls, system settings, and procedures; train employees as needed Report compliance status updates and tax exposures to the CFO Lead sales tax configuration and testing process as part of our ERP implementation project with Oracle NetSuite and Avalara. Qualifications 3+ years of sales tax experience, including multi-state and multi-entity compliance.
