# Staff Accountant

Salary: $65,000 - $75,000 Location: St. Petersburg, FL 33701 Why This Opportunity Stands Out Join a stable and growing company within the fuel and energy industry Work from a convenient downtown St. Petersburg location with easy access to local amenities Gain broad exposure across accounting, finance, and operations functions Take ownership of key general ledger activities and month-end close responsibilities Opportunity to grow professionally and develop into a Senior Accountant or leadership role Collaborative team environment with supportive and accessible leadership Participate in process improvement initiatives and financial reporting projects Competitive salary and benefits package Play a critical role in maintaining accurate financial records and supporting strategic business decisions Key Responsibilities For The Staff Accountant Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts Perform monthly account reconciliations and investigate variances Assist with month-end and year-end close processes Support financial statement preparation and reporting activities Reconcile bank accounts and other balance sheet accounts Assist with fixed asset accounting, accruals, and prepaid expense schedules Support external audits by preparing schedules and documentation Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls Qualifications For The Staff Accountant Bachelor's degree in Accounting required 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in corporate accounting or public accounting Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting principles Experience with ERP or accounting software systems Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables and VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills CPA designation or CPA track is a plus #StaffAccountant #AccountingJobs #FinanceJobs #StPetersburgJobs #CorporateAccounting #GeneralLedger #MonthEndClose #INSEP2026
