Supervisory Physical Security Specialist

This position is located in the Office of Administration (OA), Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Physical Security Division. The incumbent serves as a Physical Security Branch Manager, for the SCIF & Collateral Programs Branch responsible for management of the Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs) and collateral areas. As a Supervisory Physical Security Specialist, GS-0080-14, your typical work assignments may include the following: 1. Performs a full range of first-level supervisory responsibilities which involves assigning work to staff based on priorities, developing performance standards and evaluating work performance of staff. 2. Oversees the day-to-day administration of a classified information management program used in the protection of classified or sensitive information, facilities, installations, or other sensitive materials and resources. 3. Conducts comprehensive surveys and analyses of operational functions to determine what identified information needs to be protected; Identifying and assess the degrees of vulnerability, and developing appropriate countermeasures to provide protection against compromise. 4. Developes, implements, and monitors policies, instructions, procedures, control systems, and methods for information security function and activities such as physical storage and control and security education. 5. Serves as the technical expert for construction, design, development, and evaluation, protective systems and devices to ensure that sensitive or classified information, equipment, and other materials are not compromised. MINIMUM QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: All applicants must meet the qualification requirements outlined below to be considered minimally qualified for this position. The qualification requirements are in accordance with the Office of Personnel Management Qualification Standards. TIME-IN-GRADE REQUIREMENTS: Applicants possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level or pay band in Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. ALL QUALIFICATIONS MUST BE MET BY THE CLOSING DATE OF THIS ANNOUNCEMENT. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have a minimum of one year of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility comparable to the next lower grade or comparable pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector. Examples of specialized experience are: You may qualify at the GS-14 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private sector, that demonstrates the following: 1) Utilizing security systems, including Physical Access Control System (PACS) systems for the protection of classified information and/or systems;2) Overseeing the protection of national security information, including SCIF construction and maintenance, and collateral area accreditations;3) Performing the functions of a contracting officer's representative, safe/vault technician and inspector; and4) Leading and directing a team. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service program (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment.
