Firewater Response LLC is seeking an Accountant to join our team. This position plays a critical role within the Accounting department, ensuring financial accuracy across multiple entities. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, experience within the construction industry, and a proactive mindset toward technology and process improvement. Responsibilities: Manage day-to-day accounting functions with a strong focus on accurate job costing, ensuring costs are properly recorded, allocated, and tracked across construction projects, phases, and cost codes. Prepare monthly balance sheets and profit/loss statements. Assist with month-end & year-end close processes. Monitor labor, materials, subcontractor, equipment, and other project costs to ensure accurate job profitability reporting. Manage accounting activities related to real estate portfolios, including leases, expenses, capital improvements, and inter-company allocations. Process contractor invoices, ensuring compliance with contract terms and proper documentation. Issuing timely payments via checks, ACH, wire transfers to subcontractors and vendors. Vendor management and communicating with vendors to resolve discrepancies. Maintain general ledger accuracy and ensure compliance with GAAP and company policies. Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders, including job cost reports and cash flow projections. Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations, including payroll taxes and 1099 reporting. Support quarterly estimated tax payments and maintain documentation for deductions and write-offs. Report on common construction-related write-offs such as materials, equipment rentals, travel expenses, depreciation, insurance and professional services. Actively participate in the rollout and implementation of new accounting systems including training team members and troubleshooting issues. Collaborate with IT to ensure seamless integration of financial tools into daily workflows. Assist with audits, provide documentation to external auditors and regulatory agencies. Maintain confidentiality and integrity of financial data at all times. Qualifications: 5+ years of accounting experience. Construction, Real Estate, and/or Equipment Leasing background required. Strong understanding of job costing and contractor billing. Proficiency in ERP accounting software and Excel. Experience with software implementation or upgrades is a plus. Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills Must be a team-player and able to work well/closely with others Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance. This is an in-Office position Monday – Friday, this is NOT a remote position. Firewater Response LLC has over 39 years of experience evaluating damage and developing comprehensive mitigation plans for commercial properties (Hospitals, Schools, Universities, Office Buildings, Industrial).
