Precision Vehicle Logistics is focused on yard management working in partnership with labor unions. PVL offers a full range of vehicle processing services for origin facilities, destination ramps, and ports – including rail loading and unloading. Working Location: Ft. Wayne, IN • Ft. Wayne Assembly Plant What You’ll Do As a key member of the Operations team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring operational excellence and upholding safety standards, with a strong focus on promoting a positive work culture. Success in this role will require exceptional interpersonal skills and proficiency in problem-solving.. As a Dock Supervisor, you’ll be responsible for: Operational Overseeing daily dock operations for truck loading and unloading activities. Ensuring compliance with DOT regulations, OEM standards, and company quality requirements during all loading and unloading processes. Effectively communicating and clarifying job tasks to team members to maintain safety and efficiency. Monitoring the quality handling and distribution of new vehicles post-production and ensuring all vehicles meet required standards before shipment. Conducting and documenting inspections for damage, quality, and compliance. Supervising crews to ensure vehicles are accurately scanned, inventoried, and properly staged for outbound shipments. Coordinating with transportation teams and other departments to streamline dock workflows. Conducting daily assessments of work areas to detect and correct deficiencies, prevent damage or loss, and address safety concerns. Allocating resources including manpower, equipment, and supplies to optimize dock productivity. Assisting employees, customers, and visitors by addressing inquiries or directing them to appropriate personnel. Ensuring accurate and timely responses to employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, and related matters. Participating in personnel functions, including training sessions and investigations when necessary. Flexibility to adapt to various tasks and duties as assigned to support operational needs.  Supervisory Allocating team member responsibilities to optimize resource utilization, including manpower, yard equipment, and supplies. Engaging in regular communication with team members and customers to ensure clarity on shipping objectives and targets while relaying this information to all other relevant parties.  Engaging in personnel-related activities including timekeeping, payroll data entry, recruitment, training, performance evaluation, disciplinary proceedings, and investigations. Daily review of site SMDS board with support staff and hourly personnel. Candidate Requirements We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Dock Supervisor with 1-3 years of supervisory experience. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, effective verbal and written communication, negotiation, coaching, and conflict resolution. They will also demonstrate the ability to effectively motivate team members. Proficient in interpreting and administering Collective Bargaining Agreements. Computer proficiency essential, particularly in Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of DOT compliance and vehicle handling procedures strongly preferred. Proficiency in logical reasoning, applying general principles to specific issues, and generating sensible solutions. Demonstrated capability to motivate, develop, train, and supervise individuals, ensuring optimal task allocation. Strong aptitude for effective time management. Must hold a current, valid driver’s license and maintain a clean driving record. Ability to pass drug screening and criminal background check. Physical Demands of the Job Work in various indoor and outdoor environments. The employee must ensure safety while working in a shipping and rail yard environment, including safely entering and exiting customer cars, railcars, and equipment. Perform various manual tasks such as ascending/descending ladders, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crawling, bending, twisting, crouching, and reaching, all of which may be repetitive. Work and stand for extended periods. Regularly carry, lift, move, push, and/or pull objects weighing up to 40 pounds without assistance. Work in proximity to hazardous materials, loud noise, and/or extreme temperatures. Operate vehicles or mobile equipment as required. Occasional travel for meetings, onsite visits, customer locations, or other business-related purposes. Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, standard operating procedures, work instructions, procedure manuals, and policies. Quickly respond to safety instructions, alarms, and signals. Comfortably wear personal protective equipment. Frequently navigate a busy environment. Display clear vision and physical agility required for performing the duties associated with the role. Additional Information  This position requires the employee to be onsite full-time. A person applying for this position must be available to work full-time, weekends, nights, or an on-call schedule when necessary. As an employee, you will be responsible for retaining a valid driver's license, free from any drug or alcohol-related driving convictions or reckless driving and always remain “insurable” while operating company owned or controlled vehicles.
