Maintenance Planner

💰 $35–$40/hour, paid weekly Schedule: Monday–Friday | 6:00 AM – 4:00 PM Location: Rock Island, IL 📋 What you'll do Turn requests into ready-to-go work orders. Review maintenance requests in D365 daily, convert valid ones the same day, or close them out with a clear reason. Prepare every job before it's scheduled. Assets, instructions, labor hours, parts, tools, safety requirements (lockout, permits, confined space), and downtime needs. Get the right parts there first. Identify parts by item number, raise purchase requests early, follow up with procurement and the storeroom, and have parts staged before work begins. Build and run the weekly schedule. Prioritize ready work against available labor, lead the weekly scheduling meeting with maintenance and production, and assign labor with the maintenance supervisor. Keep work moving. Track jobs in progress, clear roadblocks, and spend time on the floor capturing photos, nameplate data, and lessons learned. Close the loop. Make sure completed work orders include notes, labor hours, parts used, and downtime, and that follow-up work gets raised. Build the system. Create job plans, checklists, and PM plans in D365, keep asset records accurate, and maintain equipment documentation and floor plans. Plan the big events. Scope and plan annual shutdowns months ahead, and prepare the site for contractor work. Track what matters. Report on schedule compliance, PM compliance, planned vs. reactive work, backlog, and MTBF/MTTR. Support the network. Help other Techo-Bloc sites remotely and join a monthly planner network to share standards. 📌 Good to know You'll report to the Corporate Maintenance Planning & Systems Manager, with a strong dotted line to the site Maintenance Manager. This is a planning role. You won't supervise technicians or perform repairs yourself. Occasional after-hours support may be needed for urgent situations. ✅ What you bring Experience in maintenance planning, maintenance coordination, or as a maintenance technician in manufacturing Solid mechanical and electrical knowledge, enough to understand a job, estimate it, and identify the parts it needs Experience with a CMMS or ERP system (work orders, PM plans, parts, purchase requests) Strong organization and follow-through when juggling many jobs at once Clear communication with technicians, supervisors, production, storeroom, and procurement Comfort on the plant floor: reading nameplates, taking measurements, documenting equipment Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel Valid driver's license with a good driving record ⭐ Bonus points for Microsoft D365 Asset Management or Microsoft AX experience Knowledge of PM and reliability practices (criticality, PM intervals, MTBF/MTTR) Shutdown or major maintenance event planning Scoping and coordinating contractor work Forklift and industrial equipment operation Staying calm and organized when breakdowns disrupt the plan Why Work at Techo-Bloc? We're looking for a detail-driven Maintenance Planner to make sure every maintenance job at our Waterloo and Rock Island facilities is fully prepared, properly scheduled, and correctly recorded. The goal is simple: our technicians should spend their time fixing equipment, not hunting for parts and information. This is a new role built around our Microsoft D365 Asset Management system. You won't just use the system. You'll help shape how planning is done across our sites.
