Our mission here in the Trademark Product Delivery Branches is to promote the use of new technology, innovative solutions, and experience design practices across business product delivery teams. In the Trademark Product Delivery Branches, you can work with product teams by performing defined portions of systems analysis, building application software, testing, documentation, automation, implementation, and operational support work for USPTO business products and systems. The physical worksite for this position is located in Alexandria, Virginia. Presence at the Alexandria, VA campus is required for this role, as it includes on site functions that must be performed in person. Position may be eligible for situational telework in accordance with agency policy/business unit discretion. The agency currently allows for 52 hours of telework per leave year. You enjoy designing, developing, modifying, testing, integrating, implementing, and maintaining application software and system components using established software development, Agile, and DevSecOps practices. You enjoy the challenge of troubleshooting application, system, integration, and production issues; analyzing technical information to identify causes, recommend solutions, and support reliable system operations. You would like to be able to support modernization, automation, and emerging technology initiatives, including evaluating and integrating artificial intelligence enabled tools and capabilities into assigned products and systems. You enjoy coordinating with customers, product teams, cybersecurity personnel, contractors, and other stakeholders; prepares technical documentation and providing technical guidance and recommendations appropriate to the grade level. You must meet the United States Office of Personnel Management's (OPM) qualification requirements (including specialized experience and/or educational requirements) for the advertised position. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped applicants with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, you must possess one full year (52 weeks) of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level. GS-09: For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS- 07. Specialized experience for this position includes: Assisting with gathering, reviewing, or documenting business, functional, or technical requirements for information systems, applications, or software components. AND Supporting the design, development, configuration, testing, implementation, or maintenance of application software components or system features using established methods and procedures. AND Assisting with troubleshooting routine application, system, or production support issues by reviewing logs, error reports, defects, or other technical information and documenting or testing potential solutions. AND Supporting Agile, DevSecOps, software testing, automation, or product delivery activities, such as developing test cases, documenting results, tracking work items, preparing technical documentation, or assisting with deployment activities. GS-11: For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS-09. Specialized experience for this position includes: Performing systems analysis for assigned applications, systems, interfaces, or product features by analyzing business or technical requirements, user needs, system functionality, or opportunities for system improvement. AND Supporting the design, development, modification, integration, testing, implementation, or maintenance of application software using software development life cycle, Agile, or DevSecOps practices. AND Analyzing and resolving application, system, integration, or production support issues using technical information such as logs, defect reports, monitoring data, cybersecurity scans, or user feedback to identify causes and recommend corrective actions. AND Supporting software delivery, modernization, or automation efforts by developing or refining user stories, acceptance criteria, test materials, technical documentation, implementation artifacts, or recommendations for system and process improvements. GS-12: For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS- 11. Specialized experience for this position includes: Planning and carrying out difficult or complex systems analysis or application software assignments involving requirements analysis, system design, development coordination, testing, integration, release support, or production operations. AND Analyzing complex business and technical requirements, system functionality, interoperability, performance, security, data, or operational considerations and developing technical approaches or recommendations for assigned systems or software products. AND Coordinating application software development, testing, troubleshooting, modernization, automation, or implementation activities across multiple stages of the product delivery or software development life cycle. AND Providing technical advice or recommendations to customers, product teams, stakeholders, contractors, or other IT specialists regarding application software, systems analysis, DevSecOps, system performance, security, or technical problem resolution. GS-13: For this position, the next lower grade level is a GS- 12. Specialized experience for this position includes: Independently leading or performing complex systems analysis and application software work involving business and technical requirements, system architecture, interfaces, data flows, system interdependencies, security considerations, performance, and operational constraints. AND Coordinating or performing complex application software development, systems integration, testing, modernization, or production support activities across the software development life cycle and recommending solutions to difficult technical problems. AND Providing senior-level technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to managers, product owners, stakeholders, contractors, or technical teams regarding system design, software development, DevSecOps practices, modernization, security, risk mitigation, or emerging technology implementation. AND Leading or coordinating resolution of complex application, system, integration, or production issues; identifying root causes, risks, dependencies, and technical constraints; and developing corrective actions or alternative technical approaches where established precedents may be limited.
