Role Overview: The Outpatient Registered Nurse (RN) CAP 1 is an entry-level position responsible for delivering and coordinating patient care within the End Stage Kidney Disease (ESKD) team. Key Responsibilities: Conducts patient assessments, develops care plans, and monitors treatment outcomes during hemodialysis sessions. Collaborates with the healthcare team to provide safe therapy, administers medications, and responds to emergencies. Educates patients and families on treatment options and self-care. Ensures accurate laboratory procedures and documents patient data for ongoing evaluation. Participates in quality improvement activities, staff training, and supports other team members. Qualifications & Skills: Requires graduation from an accredited nursing program, valid state licensure, and CPR/BLS certification. Entry-level with less than 2 years of nephrology nursing experience preferred. Experience in hemodialysis is advantageous. Physical demands include lifting, prolonged standing, and assisting with patient mobility. Supervision & Physical Environment: May oversee Patient Care Technicians, LPNs, or LVNs after completing required training and experience. Work involves exposure to health care environments, potential infectious materials, and physical activity such as moving equipment and patients. Overall, the role emphasizes clinical competence, teamwork, patient education, and adherence to policies and regulations to improve patient outcomes.
