About Canopy Portland Waterfront Located in the heart of Portland’s historic Old Port, Canopy by Hilton Portland Waterfront is a 135 room lifestyle hotel designed to reflect the character, energy, food, art, and culture of Portland. The hotel features: • Salt Yard Café & Bar • Luna Rooftop Bar • Meeting and event space • Views of Portland’s working waterfront and Casco Bay This is a highly visible leadership role within the hotel, Fathom Companies, Hilton, and the greater Portland community. The Opportunity The General Manager serves as the hotel’s primary strategic and operational leader and is ultimately responsible for the property’s performance, culture, guest experience, financial results, and continued success. We are looking for a leader who can think strategically while remaining connected to the day to day operation. You should be equally comfortable reviewing a P&L, analyzing a forecast, developing a department leader, meeting with ownership, walking guestrooms, engaging with associates and guests, evaluating the food and beverage experience, or representing the hotel in the community. Key Responsibilities • Lead, coach, develop, and inspire the hotel’s leadership team • Protect and strengthen the culture that has contributed to the property’s success • Maintain exceptional guest satisfaction while identifying opportunities to elevate the guest experience • Provide leadership across Rooms, Food and Beverage, Housekeeping, Engineering, Sales, Revenue Management, Finance, and Human Resources • Maintain overall responsibility for the hotel’s P&L, revenue performance, profitability, cost management, and return on investment • Lead budgeting and forecasting efforts • Partner closely with Fathom’s corporate Operations, Finance, Human Resources, Revenue Management, and Sales and Marketing teams • Recruit, retain, coach, and develop exceptional hospitality professionals • Establish clear expectations and accountability throughout the leadership team • Develop future Fathom leaders through coaching, feedback, and succession planning • Ensure continued achievement of Hilton brand standards • Maintain a visible and engaged presence throughout the property • Serve as an ambassador for Canopy Portland Waterfront and Fathom Companies within the Portland community Who We Are Looking For Our ideal candidate will bring: • At least 5 years of progressively responsible hotel management experience in a full service or lifestyle hotel environment • Previous experience as a General Manager, Hotel Manager, Director of Operations, or comparable senior hotel leader • Prior Hilton experience strongly preferred • Strong Food and Beverage experience • Demonstrated expertise in hotel financial management, P&L analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and expense management • Strong understanding of revenue management and pricing strategy • Experience partnering with ownership and corporate support teams • A proven ability to recruit, develop, motivate, and retain high performing leaders • A leadership style that combines accountability with approachability and collaboration • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, analytical, and organizational skills • Bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business, or a related field preferred Most importantly, we are looking for someone who understands that great hotels are built by great teams. Compensation Base Salary: $135,000 to $145,000 annually Annual Bonus Opportunity: 20% of base salary At target, base salary plus the 20% annual bonus opportunity represents potential annual cash compensation of approximately $162,000 to $174,000 , based on achievement of applicable bonus goals.
