Reporting to the Director, Compliance, the Manager, Safety leads the Hawthorne, NV contract safety function and oversees assigned safety personnel supporting depot operations. This position manages safety program execution, inspections, investigations, training support, reporting, and compliance activities to reduce operational risk and support safe, compliant performance across the Hawthorne Army Depot contract. Position may require security clearance, consistent with contract requirements and government approval. U.S. or Naturalized citizenship is required. This position is located on site in Hawthorne, NV. As the Specialist, Training and Development , here’s the work you’ll do: Lead the safety and health program for the Hawthorne, NV contract, including ISO 45001 program coordination, safety policy implementation, and compliance with applicable Company, contract, OSHA, DOT, DoD, state, and federal requirements. Ensure safety program activities support safe depot operations and reduce operational risk Manage assigned safety resources, priorities, work requests, documentation, and reporting. Provide work direction and oversight to assigned safety personnel to ensure inspections, investigations, reporting, and corrective actions are completed accurately and on schedule Conduct, coordinate, and document safety inspections, surveys, audits, and hazard assessments across depot operations. Track findings, recommend corrective or preventive actions, and follow up with stakeholders to confirm that required measures are implemented. Develop, update, and communicate safety policies, procedures, training materials, and program guidance for employees, supervisors, and managers. Deliver or coordinate safety training and support safety committees to reinforce safe work practices and compliance expectations Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations involving personnel, ammunition, explosives, equipment, facilities, or operational activities. Prepare written reports, identify contributing causes, and coordinate corrective actions to prevent recurrence Partner with the Director, Compliance, depot leaders, government representatives, Human Resources, medical and testing resources, vendors, and other stakeholders on safety performance, emerging risks, and environmental or compliance concerns. Maintain high ethical standards and support Company values, the Code of Ethics, and Standards of Business Conduct. This role is for you if you have these skills: Safety and health program knowledge sufficient to administer contract safety requirements, ISO 45001 program activities, and OSHA, DOT, DoD, state, and federal compliance obligations. Explosives, ammunition, industrial, and depot safety knowledge sufficient to assess hazards, recommend controls, and support safe work practices in field and operational environments. Inspection, audit, and incident investigation capability sufficient to document findings, identify contributing causes, and coordinate corrective and preventive actions. Policy, procedure, and training development capability sufficient to communicate safety requirements to employees, supervisors, managers, and government or customer stakeholders. People leadership and resource management capability sufficient to prioritize work, guide safety personnel, monitor performance, and support budget and reporting requirements. Stakeholder communication and technical writing capability sufficient to prepare reports, brief leaders, respond to questions, and present safety information clearly to varied audiences. And If You Have These Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Industrial Safety, Engineering, Environmental Health and Safety, Management, or related field; equivalent combination of education and directly related experience may be considered. 5+ years of progressive safety, health, industrial safety, explosives safety, ammunition operations safety, compliance, or related experience, including experience supporting inspections, incident investigations, corrective actions, and safety training. 2+ years of supervisory, lead, or work-direction experience for safety, compliance, technical, operations, or field personnel. Must be able to obtain and maintain all Company, contract, safety, explosives safety, and site-specific certifications required by the Master Training Plan or assignment. Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid State driver’s license. Must be able to obtain and maintain the appropriate level of government security clearance, required Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives clearance, and favorable NCIC III vetting as required by assignment Must be able to perform duties with strong safety awareness, ethical judgment, and compliance discipline. Support related duties consistent with job scope and business needs In compliance with this state’s pay transparency laws, the hourly pay range for this role is $94,960- $142,440. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
