Machine Operator I

Metal Part Machining Operations focuses on operating computer and mechanically controlled machine tools to produce and repair precision metal parts for manufacturing equipment including: Analyzing computer-aided design (CAD/CAM/CAE) models and engineering specifications to define the dimensions and features of the metal part to be produced. Determining the optimal tool path for fabricating the part by selecting appropriate machine tools (e.g., lathes, drill presses, milling machines, grinders, boring machines, etc.) and specifying the sequence of tool operations. Manually setting up/adjusting machine tools and/or loading instructions into computer numeric control (CNC) systems. Recommending revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered. A Support 1 is an entry-level position typically requiring little to no prior knowledge or experience. Responsibilities typically include: Work is routine or follows standard procedures.. Work is closely supervised.. Communicates information that requires little explanation or interpretation.
