# Planning and Coordination Specialist

Department of State Headquarters

This position is located in the Under Secretary of Economic Affairs, Office of the Executive Director (E/EX). E/EX partners with E family Bureau and office leadership to strengthen operational performance and increasingly serves as a strategic, integrated service provider across the E family enterprise, including through the planning and execution of high-level events, conferences, and summits that advance the E family's mission.
Serves as the program lead for planning, coordinating, and executing complex, high-profile conferences, meetings, and events.
Provides authoritative advice to leadership and stakeholders on event strategy, protocol, logistics, technology, security, facilities, and resource requirements.
Leads cross-functional study and planning teams responsible for evaluating program effectiveness, event planning and execution, and coordinating requirements across multiple organizations and service providers.
Develops long-range goals and performance criteria for evaluating the effectiveness of E family events and programs.
Drafts executive correspondence, presentations, speeches, talking points, briefing materials, announcements, and other communications for E/EX leadership.
Applicants must meet all the required qualification requirements described below by the closing date of this announcement. NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement. Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience planning and executing large-scale, high-profile events, conferences, or ceremonies using national and international protocol standards, practices, and procedures. Experience executing government contracting and procurement actions to secure the vendors, services, and resources necessary to plan and execute events of varying size and complexity. Experience advising senior leadership and liaising among multiple offices, officials, and external partners to coordinate and resolve non-routine issues involving high-level events, protocol, or official functions. There is no substitute of education for specialized experience for the GS-14 position.
