This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), National Center for HIV, Viral Hepatitis, STD, and TB Prevention, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia. WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Health Advisor, you will use your knowledge and experience to optimize business results and customer experience by: Providing program oversight by assessing health-related systems and services, monitoring performance, and directing improvements to support program goals and national public health initiatives. Developing and delivering educational programs for health professionals and public audiences to promote health initiatives and encourage desired behavioral outcomes. Investigating product-related public health issues by examining contributing factors and communicating findings to professional, governmental, and public audiences.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Basic Qualifications: Your resume must provide evidence of the following experience. Experience that provided: Knowledge of organizational, operational, and programmatic concepts and practices applied by public, private, or nonprofit agencies and organizations engaged in public health or other health-related activities. Knowledge of the methods, processes, and techniques used to develop and deliver public health or health-related programs in State and local settings. Knowledge of a specialized public health program. Knowledge of, and skill in, the application of administrative or analytical methods and techniques necessary for working within the framework of a public health or related organization and carrying out specific program functions. Skill in oral and written communications, gathering and conveying information, making oral presentations, and preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials. In addition to meeting the basic requirement above, to qualify for this position you must also meet the qualification requirements listed below: Minimum Qualifications: You must have one year specialized experience to perform successfully the duties of the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service performing ALL of the following: Managing grants, cooperative agreements, and/or contracts by providing technical assistance, monitoring award activities, and coordinating with partner organizations to support public health program requirements. Establishing partnerships with health care professionals, educational organizations, and/or community groups to identify appropriate communication approaches and strengthen participation in public health programs. Preparing technical reports and/or program documentation that synthesize research findings, scientific methods, and evaluation results to support health communication and program decision-making. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through national Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to gain employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
