Accounts Payable Specialist

NIST is seeking an Accounts Payable Specialist to assess the accuracy and appropriateness of vendor invoices within the Accounts Payable group of the Financial Operations Division. This position is responsible for the secure management and archiving of Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI) and for providing critical financial oversight through Annual Undelivered Order (UDO) reviews and internal and external audits. As an Accounts Payable Specialist, you will utilize your knowledge of the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), the Prompt Payment Act, and Federal Travel Regulations. The Candidate will be responsible for: Preparing and distributing assigned reports. Reviewing purchase orders and contracts to process payments while actively resolving any issues that may arise. Performing final reconciliations consistently and accurately in accordance with established procedures and deadlines. Collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams to successfully deliver organizational projects. Applying analytical and evaluation techniques to review accounting data in alignment with accounting principles. Basic Requirements: Applicants must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-7 level (ZA-I at NIST) in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience: Coordinating operations related to accounts payable, accounts receivable, travel, or reimbursable financial transactions. Strictly adhering to compliance policies to prevent improper payments. OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree OR LL.B. or J.D., if related OR Equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
