Project Manager

Olympus Technical Services, Inc., a Montana-based, employee-owned Environmental Consulting and Environmental Field Services firm specializing in hazardous waste site/environmental remediation, streambank reclamation, mine reclamation, superfund site cleanup, demolition, environmental engineering and consulting, and emergency spill response, is seeking a Project Manager. The position reports to the Field Services Division Manager and works closely with staff in all divisions in our Helena, Billings, and Boise locations. This position takes place in a high paced, high energy, and dynamic environment. The Project Manager is expected to be involved in projects from cradle to the grave. With the support of senior managers, they will be involved in project bidding, coordination, obtaining permits, managing projects in the field and in the office, project closeout, and preparing invoices. The right candidate will be an excellent creative problem solver and thrive on resolving challenges. Olympus’ projects are interesting and challenging and no two are ever the same. They will also be willing to learn new tasks, be flexible with schedule, and be willing to work with other divisions within Olympus, including work on emergency response projects, when necessary. Responsibilities Manage project budgets, schedules, purchasing, subcontractors and closeout from initial planning through final invoicing. Build weekly work plans and lookahead schedules; confirm access, approved plans, materials, permits and trade availability before crews mobilize. Work with field supervisors to assign crews, coordinate multiple work locations and address constraints without compromising safety or workmanship. Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and vendor proposals, define scopes, track commitments and verify completed work and quantities. Coordinate work such as concrete repairs, sealing and waterproofing, piping, ventilation equipment, electrical connections and restoration with qualified personnel. Track labor, materials and production against estimates; forecast remaining costs and document scope changes before additional work proceeds. Maintain daily reports, photographs, inspection and test records, field sketches, as-built information and complete turnover packages. Communicate with clients and project teams; coordinate respectfully with occupants within the project communication plan and protect confidential information. Support hiring and onboarding, field safety planning and quality control; coordinate project labor reporting with payroll and subcontractors. Assist with estimates, proposals and other Olympus field services or emergency response work as needed. Required qualifications Degree in construction management, civil engineering or a related field, or equivalent technical training and relevant project management experience. Experience managing environmental, residential, commercial renovation or civil construction projects, including field crews or specialty subcontractors. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, contracts, vendors, quantities and invoices, and to identify and document changes in scope. Ability to read plans and drawings, assess field conditions and solve practical construction problems. Strong safety and quality control practices, organizational skills and written and verbal communication. Proficiency with Microsoft Office and construction estimating, scheduling or project tracking tools. Ability to work regularly from Billings and visit active work locations; willingness to travel and adjust hours as projects require. Preferred experience and training Work in occupied homes or buildings, with attention to occupant concerns, property protection and coordination of small construction assignments. Environmental remediation, radon or vapor mitigation, ventilation systems, crawlspace encapsulation, concrete repair, waterproofing or building restoration. Prevailing-wage projects, certified payroll coordination and subcontractor compliance documentation. PE, PMP or related professional credentials; NRPP or NRSB certification; 40-hour HAZWOPER or OSHA supervisor training. Construction surveying, GPS, estimating and experience helping establish or expand a field team. Compensation: Anticipated salary range $80,000.00 - $130,000.00 D.O.E. Work days are generally M-F 40-50 hours/week, however, due to the nature of the work, schedule varies and often includes afterhours and weekend work.
