Role Description This full-time, on-site HVAC Technician role is based in Waipahu, HI. The HVAC Technician will install, repair, and maintain residential and light industrial air conditioning and cooling systems, ensuring safe and efficient operation. Daily tasks include diagnosing system issues, performing preventive maintenance, checking electrical and plumbing connections, and verifying compliance with relevant safety and environmental standards. The role also involves communicating clearly with customers about findings and recommended services, maintaining accurate service records, and collaborating with team members to deliver prompt, high-quality work. Technicians are expected to follow company procedures, uphold safety practices, and represent HI State Services professionally at all times. Qualifications Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and resolving HVAC system issues efficiently. Knowledge of plumbing systems as they relate to HVAC installations and condensate management. Experience with preventive maintenance practices to extend equipment life and improve performance. Understanding of electricity and electrical components used in HVAC systems, with safe work practices. EPA certification or eligibility to obtain EPA certification for handling refrigerants. Relevant HVAC training, apprenticeship, or technical school education; certification or license preferred. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work orders. Physical ability to perform field work, including lifting equipment, working in confined spaces, and climbing ladders. Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record for travel to customer locations. Strong customer service, communication, and teamwork skills, with a focus on safety and reliability.
