Material Planning Lead

We are seeking a Materials Planning Lead to drive end-to-end material readiness across NPI prototype builds and volume manufacturing transitions. Sitting at the intersection of hardware engineering, supply chain, and contract manufacturers, you will manage complex consigned and turnkey supply chains, mitigate E&O exposure, and leverage data analytics to ensure seamless execution from initial build through mass production. On a given day at Lunar, you'll likely… Direct material requirements planning and kitting for engineering prototypes across Proto, EVT, DVT and PVT builds Track material clear-to-build status across tier-1 and tier-2 contract manufacturers, and manage consigned component pipelines to prevent line-down events Partner with hardware engineering to assess how design changes affect materials, and manage revision roll-overs so we avoid scrap during active builds Model demand scenarios, including swings of 30% up or down, to size material buffers correctly without tying up unnecessary working capital Watch manufacturing yield and scrap rates across our build partners, and adjust reorder points to match Build and maintain real-time dashboards that show clear-to-build status, component shortages, vendor lead times and inventory turns Lead weekly material review boards, flag part shortages early with clear options for resolving them, and hold suppliers and manufacturers accountable to their commitments Desired skills Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, industrial engineering, operations research, or a related quantitative field 5+ years of experience in materials planning, NPI supply chain, or hardware manufacturing operations, spanning both internal prototype builds and outsourced contract manufacturing Direct experience managing consigned materials, inventory reconciliation, and manufacturer liabilities Strong proficiency with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite) and BI tools (PowerBI, Tableau, Looker), plus advanced Excel and data-modelling skills A sharp analytical mind paired with the judgement to balance material availability against financial exposure A master's degree in operations research, supply chain analytics, or engineering management, and certifications such as APICS CSCP, CPIM or ISM CPSM, are a plus Experience with PLM tools (Arena, Agile, Omnify) and scripting languages (Python, SQL, R) for supply chain automation is a bonus Benefits: We’re dedicated to creating a remarkable employee experience. The salary range estimate for this position depending on level of experience is $150,000-$175,000 USD The actual offer, reflecting the total compensation package & benefits, will be at the company’s sole discretion, and determined by factors including but not limited to years of experience, job level, geographic location, and other relevant business considerations.
