Role Description The Maintenance Technician is a full-time, on-site role based at MSC’s facility in Hartford, CT. This position is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing production and coating equipment, including plasma and flame-spray systems, robotic equipment, and associated machinery. Day-to-day activities include performing preventive maintenance, diagnosing mechanical and electrical issues, completing repairs, and documenting maintenance activities to support safety and quality standards. The Maintenance Technician works closely with operations, engineering, and quality teams to minimize downtime, support process improvements, and ensure equipment operates reliably and efficiently. The role also involves adhering to safety regulations, participating in continuous improvement initiatives, and assisting with equipment upgrades and installations as needed. Qualifications Strong equipment maintenance and industrial maintenance skills, with experience supporting manufacturing or coating operations. Proficiency in troubleshooting and maintenance & repair of mechanical, pneumatic, and basic electrical systems. Background in preventive maintenance, including scheduling, inspection, and documentation of equipment servicing. Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and work instructions; familiarity with maintenance management systems is beneficial. Knowledge of safety practices in industrial environments, including lockout/tagout and safe operation of tools and machinery. Prior experience with plasma, flame-spray, robotic, or CNC equipment is a plus. High school diploma or equivalent required; technical certification or vocational training in industrial maintenance, mechanics, or related field preferred. Effective communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
