Project Manager – Mechanical Construction Tucson, AZ Compensation: $105,000–$120,000 annually We’re seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead complex mechanical, plumbing, and sheet metal construction projects from preconstruction turnover through final closeout. This is an opportunity for a project leader who understands that successful construction is about more than keeping a schedule. You’ll own project execution, financial performance, contracts, procurement, billing, risk management, customer relationships, and team leadership. Partner with field leadership to plan labor resources, monitor productivity, and keep projects moving safely and efficiently. Manage project budgets, schedules, cost controls, forecasting, WIP reporting, backlog, cash flow, profitability, and monthly financial performance. Oversee contract administration, documentation, change management, and project risk to protect project and client interests. Lead project turnover, permitting, project setup, scheduling, submittals, and closeout activities. Manage material and equipment procurement, project buyouts, and subcontractor agreements. Develop billing schedules and oversee progress billings, retention, receivables, and collections. Price, negotiate, document, and process change orders and other changes in project scope. Review subcontractor and supplier invoices and manage project tools, rentals, and equipment. Identify performance issues early, analyze project variances, forecast needs, and implement corrective action. Recruit, coach, mentor, develop, and lead project team members. Build strong relationships with owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, field teams, and internal leadership. Promote high standards for safety, quality, customer service, and project execution. What You Bring Bachelor’s degree or 10+ years of progressive construction experience . Demonstrated experience managing mechanical, plumbing, and/or sheet metal construction projects . Experience managing projects valued at $10 million or more strongly preferred . Strong understanding of construction financials, including WIP, backlog, cost forecasting, profitability, job costing, and financial reporting. Working knowledge of construction contracts, procurement, subcontract administration, change orders, and project risk. Strong leadership, negotiation, decision-making, problem-solving, and conflict-management skills. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with customers, project teams, subcontractors, and company leadership. Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project. Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, analyze project data, and maintain sound judgment under pressure. Strong commitment to construction safety and the ability to take action when unsafe conditions are present.
