You will serve as a Supervisory Park Ranger (AIS) Seasonal for Glacier National Park. Supervise personnel conducting watercraft inspection and decontamination as part of a park wide aquatic invasive species monitoring and prevention program. Coordinate and supervise volunteers and agency partners associated with the aquatic invasive species monitoring and prevention program. Facilitating visitor contacts to enhance public understanding of the threat of aquatic nuisance species and the role of the public in park resource protection and supervising others conducting this task. Encourage visitor behavior consistent with resource use and management of park resources in support of the NPS mission and supervising others conducting this task. Physical Demands: This position involves sedentary work but is also required to stand for long periods of time in the outside environment, as well as walk, bend, and lift moderately heavy items. Other physical demands including crawling under and in tight spaces in boats and mental stress and physical fatigue occur due to high volume of personal contacts. Work Environment: Work is primarily performed outdoors which results in exposure to extremes of temperature, rain, wind, and direct sunlight. High levels of vehicle noise and emissions may exist during heavy visitation periods. Duties may be performed alone in isolated locations.
All qualifications must be met by 11:59 EST or when the 'applicant cut-off' is reached (which may be sooner than 10/12/2026). To receive credit for experience, your resume MUST state either "full-time" (or "40 hours a week") or "part-time" with the number of hours worked per week to ensure proper crediting of specialized experience. Failure to adequately provide information needed to determine number of hours worked in each position may result in that time not being credited when evaluating qualifying experience. For periods of time that reflect military service, the DD-214 or Statement of Service is sufficient to meet the full and/or part-time hours requirement as the service dates will be reflected. To qualify for this position at the GS-09 grade level, you must possess some of the following minimum qualifications by close of the announcement: SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one full year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors). This experience includes activities such as: Law enforcement or investigative work; archaeological or historical preservation work; forestry or fire management work in a park, recreation or conservation area; leading others in performing boat inspections for aquatic invasive species or other resource permitting activities; management assistant or program specialist work involving the development and implementation of policy related to protection, conservation, or management or park areas or similar operations. . You must include hours per week worked.
• OR- EDUCATION: Successful completion of at least two (2) full academic years (36 semester hours) of progressively higher-level graduate education, or a master's, or equivalent graduate degree in one of the following fields: natural resource management, natural sciences, earth sciences, history, archeology, anthropology, park and recreation management, law enforcement/police science, social sciences, museum sciences, business administration, public administration, behavioral sciences, sociology, or other closely related subjects pertinent to the management and protection of natural and cultural resources. You must include transcripts.
• OR- Successful completion of a combination of education and experience as described above. For example, six (6) months of specialized experience (50%), plus 27 semester hours of directly related graduate level college study from an accredited institution (50% of the qualifying education) equals 100% of this requirement. NOTE: Only related education in excess of 18 graduate hours is creditable towards meeting this qualification. Volunteer Experience: Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Current or former displaced Federal employees who are surplus, displaced, or involuntarily separated have special priority selection rights under the Agency Career Transition Assistance Program (CTAP) or the Interagency Career Transition Assistance Program (ICTAP). To be considered under CTAP/ICTAP, you must be well-qualified, score at least 85 (i.e., meet the minimum qualification requirements, including any selective placement factors; education, and experience requirements), and be able to perform the duties of the position upon entry.

You may be required to travel overnight away from home occasionally. You may be required to complete training and obtain/maintain a government charge card with travel and/or purchase authority. You may be required to complete training and operate a four-wheel drive vehicle. You must be at least 18 years of age or older to operate government vehicles. You may be required to work on-call, evenings, weekends, holidays, overtime and shift work.
