Investigator

This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of Inspector General, Office of Investigations, Special Investigations Branch. Resumes must be no more than 2-pages in length. Term Appointment for three years. This is an Investigator vacancy within the Office of Investigations, Special Investigations Branch. Duties include but are not limited to: Plans, coordinates, conducts and leads civil and administrative investigations. Support Special Agents in conducting criminal investigations at the direction of the Assistant Special Agent in Charge. Responsible for conducting investigations of Whistleblower Reprisal. Advises staff and acts as a training investigator. Identify special training needs of staff members and confer with supervisor. Develops training materials and guidelines. Make presentations at regional office meetings and at training conferences for the nationwide investigative staff and other agencies. Coordinates and communicates orally and in writing with officials inside and outside the Department. Provides program and policy direction necessary to accomplish all investigative work requirements, and to ensure compliance with all legal requirements and OI policies and procedures. Applicants must have 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service which provided the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate: Serve as team leader on sensitive civil, and administrative investigation cases relating to fraud, waste and abuse of Medicaid and Medicare programs; and participates in investigative reporting procedures, conducting research, analyzing and interpreting federal, state and local regulations and information; and identifies, plans, coordinates, and conducts extensive internal and external training and outreach relative to program areas and investigative activities. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
