# Senior Accountant

Senior Accountant – Onsite | Fort Myers, FL The Axel Group is currently seeking a Senior Accountant for our client in Florida! Our client is a turnkey environmental services firm specializing in environmental assessment, remediation, and forensic consulting, based in Fort Myers, Florida. The client is a licensed engineering and geology firm, a FDEP Agency Term Contractor in the Petroleum Restoration Program, and a site remediation contractor. Their customers include contractors, developers, banks, realtors, property owners, engineering firms, and government agencies. This is a hands-on accounting opportunity working closely with senior leadership and supporting the organization’s day-to-day accounting operations, month-end close, reporting, and process improvement initiatives. The position offers long-term growth potential into a supervisory or managerial role for the right individual. Key Responsibilities:
• Own and support daily accounting activities to ensure accurate and timely processing
• Assist with month-end and year-end close, including journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and general ledger review
• Maintain and support fixed asset and depreciation schedules
• Review invoices, payroll-related expenses, and employee card activity to help maintain strong financial controls
• Support accounts receivable, billing, and project invoicing in coordination with internal stakeholders
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting workflows, approval processes, and reporting accuracy
• Prepare financial schedules and ad hoc reports for senior leadership
• Partner with leadership and internal teams to support the continued growth of the organization Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience
• Strong full-cycle accounting experience, including:
• General Ledger
• Accounts Payable
• Accounts Receivable
• Account Reconciliations
• Accruals
• Month-End Close
• QuickBooks experience required
• Strong Excel skills required
• Experience in a project-based environment such as professional services, construction, engineering, or consulting is strongly preferred
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work fully onsite Monday–Friday in Fort Myers, FL Compensation $80,000–$95,000 base salary Why Consider This Opportunity?
