Process Engineer | Engineering Manager - Optical Manufacturing

General Summary: Responsible for continuous improvement, project management and standardization of process both human and equipment related. Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions): Evaluates data captured by the supplier pertaining to both process and equipment in order to help department supervisors become more efficient and reduce breakage and identify reoccurring errors to improve PM and maintenance. Works with the departments to set up testing for new consumables and products ensuring testing is organized and historical data can be captured. Uses tests to see if they were successful or not and if changes should be implemented. Creates a validated consumable list helping the lab to have multiple suppliers and reduce costs. Manages AR and drop ball testing with Colts. Schedules the samples to be run on time and sends off for testing. Monitors and reports on results. Works with LMS provider to ensure our systems are up to date and all systems are working as intended. Uses NVI IT systems to request approval for updates and close out as required. Works with IT to create monthly and quarterly reports, patches, users to remove from system. Oversees the installation of new equipment including helping identify utility and other requirements. Ensures the quality of product before releasing to production. Evaluates maintenance costs, corrective actions and PM schedules. Identifies opportunities with maintenance and the suppliers to reduce cost and change frequency of PM's when necessary. Helps train staff and updates training documents on LMS functions and basic IT/PC related job functions. Works with suppliers on a regular basis to report equipment and process issues and identify solutions. Works with equipment suppliers to identify new equipment, automation and determine benefits for production (costs/unit, lens/sqft, etc.). Works with the quality personnel to help address any outgoing quality issues whether it be labor related, training related, equipment, process, etc. Collaborates with other NVI labs and identifies best practices and discusses with local management. Works with training personnel when issues arise to recommend trainings or SOP procedure changes. Oversees or assists with technical and IT related functions, issues, purchases, set up and/or testing for lab operation needs. Complies with all policies and standards. Performs other duties as assigned. Four year college degree or equivalent experience. Requires 2-4 years experience in manufacturing responsible for process improvement. Requires 2-4 years project management experience. Optical manufacturing/production experience is necessary. Technical and mechanically inclined; familiarity with industrial/optical manufacturing equipment Intermediate knowledge of MS Office including word and excel. Cost Saving Skills: Develops and optimizes business procedures to increase efficiencies and/or reduce costs. Oral and Written Communication: Effectively conveys information and ideas in concise and meaningful exchanges through written and verbal communication. Project Management Skills: Strong project management skills with knowledge of full project life cycle, including business process design, documentation, execution and change management.
