Registered Nurse – Medical / Gastroenterology

Role Overview: The registered nurse (RN) provides comprehensive care in a specialized gastrointestinal unit, focusing on patients with complex GI disorders such as bleeding, liver failure, hepatobiliary issues, cancer, and inflammatory bowel disease. The role emphasizes patient education, discharge planning, and a holistic nursing approach tailored to chronic illness management. Key Responsibilities Coordinate nursing care, including direct patient care and family education. Support transitions of care and ensure effective communication across teams. Lead and participate in quality improvement activities and mentoring roles. Delegate care appropriately based on skill level, patient acuity, and resources. Engage in patient discharge planning with an emphasis on chronic illness management. Qualifications & Skills Graduate of an accredited nursing program. Minimum of one year RN experience; new graduates may apply through a dedicated residency program. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in electronic medical records and teamwork experience. Current RN license, BLS certification, and any required state or specialty certifications. Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Demonstrated leadership, critical thinking, and adaptability skills.
