Precision Sheet Metal Finishing Technician
Advantage Manufacturing of Colorado Springs
Shape the Final Touch on Precision Parts Picture this: you clock in, gear up with PPE, and step to a clean, well-lit finishing cell. A batch of laser-cut panels is queued and ready. Your hands move from a surface grinder to a handheld deburring tool; you feather sharp edges, blend surfaces, and confirm a satin finish that meets spec. You run your fingertips along the edges, verify dimensions with calipers and micrometers, and sign off with confidence—another lot ready for weld, assembly, or shipment. What your day looks like Perform end-to-end part finishing—grinding, deburring, and edge conditioning—using hand tools, power tools, and automated equipment. Eliminate burrs, nicks, and sharp edges to meet customer, print, and internal quality standards. Match required surface finishes by reading blueprints/work instructions and following documented quality criteria. Inspect visually and by touch; verify critical dimensions with gauges, calipers, and micrometers; flag nonconformances and propose improvements. Keep equipment in top shape—clean, maintain, and set up grinders and finishing tools for consistent output. Work safely at all times: wear PPE (gloves, safety glasses, respirators), manage dust, and dispose of chips/shavings per environmental rules. Partner with machinists, welders, and quality inspectors to hit daily production goals; help stage parts and materials, and jump in where needed. Support cross-training to broaden your skills and back up teammates across the finishing department. What you bring 1+ year in grinding, deburring, or metal finishing (precision sheet metal experience is a plus). Comfort with hand grinders, deburring tools, and finishing equipment. Ability to read blueprints, follow work instructions, and apply shop quality standards. Sharp eye for detail, solid shop math, and strong communication. Manual dexterity for small, precision components; dependable, team-first mindset. High school diploma or GED preferred. Work setting and physical demands On your feet for extended periods; frequent bending and reaching. Lift and move up to 50 lbs; perform repetitive motions. Production environment with metal dust, noise, and temperature variation. Regular collaboration with production, engineering, quality, and leadership.
