Position Summary The Hyperbaric Technician is responsible for the safe and effective operation of hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) equipment while providing exceptional patient care. This position assists in the treatment of patients undergoing hyperbaric oxygen therapy, monitors patients during treatments, maintains equipment, and ensures compliance with safety standards, regulatory requirements, and clinic policies. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Operate monoplace and/or multiplace hyperbaric chambers according to established protocols. Prepare patients for hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments. Monitor patients before, during, and after treatment for signs of discomfort, complications, or adverse reactions. Obtain and document vital signs as directed. Ensure all safety procedures and emergency protocols are followed. Conduct daily chamber inspections, preventive maintenance checks, and equipment testing. Maintain accurate treatment records and documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Educate patients and families regarding hyperbaric oxygen therapy procedures and safety requirements. Collaborate with physicians, nurses, wound care providers, and other healthcare team members to coordinate patient care. Maintain inventory of hyperbaric supplies and equipment. Respond appropriately to emergency situations and assist with patient evacuation procedures when necessary. Participate in quality improvement activities and staff training programs. Ensure compliance with UHMS, NFPA, OSHA, Joint Commission, and facility safety standards. Qualifications Required: High school diploma or GED. EMT Certificate / License LPN Idaho State License Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Ability to successfully complete Hyperbaric Technician training and certification requirements. Strong communication and patient service skills. Ability to work in a fast-paced clinical environment. Preferred: Previous healthcare experience, including EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, Respiratory Therapist, LPN, RN, or military medical training. Experience working in wound care or hyperbaric medicine. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Knowledge of medical terminology and patient care practices. Ability to recognize and respond to medical emergencies. Strong attention to detail and safety awareness. Ability to operate and troubleshoot hyperbaric equipment. Excellent organizational and documentation skills. Ability to establish positive relationships with patients, families, and team members. Physical Requirements Frequent sitting, standing, walking, bending, and reaching. Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. Ability to assist patients with mobility and transfers. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient to monitor patients and equipment safely. Schedule Full-time position, typically 32- 40 hours per week. Monday through Friday schedule with occasional evening or on-call responsibilities as needed. Flexible scheduling based on patient treatment volumes and clinic needs.
