PDCN: D0874000 Selecting Supervisor: Zachary Carbaugh Repairs, inspects, maintains, modifies, overhauls and installs a variety of avionics electronics equipment of moderate complexity of design, construction, and function. Units worked on include components, assemblies, and subassemblies of UHF and VHF radio sets, VOR navigation radios, automatic direction finder (ADF) navigation radios, AM and FM radio sets, radio marker beacons, intercommunication sets, control consoles, speakers, stabilization augmentation systems (SAS), and similar electronic and navigation equipment. Equipment functions include transmission, reception, indication, transformation, computation, mixing, amplification, conversion, sweep and pulse generation, timing, and modulation. Diagnoses equipment malfunctions and troubleshoots components, assemblies or subassemblies. Removes and replaces defective or malfunctioning parts, including transistors, diodes, resistors, capacitors, and switches. Modifies equipment in accordance with published Modification Work Orders or Technical Bulletins. Troubleshoots aircraft wiring harnesses and connectors and repairs by replacing wires, junction boxes, etc. Installs equipment in the aircraft and completes operational tests. When designated on NGB Flying Status Orders, serves as member of flight crew for the purpose of diagnosing and recording malfunctions, or otherwise determining maintenance and repair requirements. Guides lower level mechanics in the performance of duties. Conducts on-the-job training on assigned systems and related support equipment and tasks to include classroom instruction as necessary. Processes and accounts for due-in supply assets. Ensures that materiel and equipment are properly stored, protected and maintained and that funds are not obligated for materiel or parts without proper justification. Prepares for and participates in various types of readiness evaluations such as Operational Readiness Evaluations (ORE), Command Logistics Readiness Inspections (CLRT-X), and Aviation Resource Management Surveys. May be required to perform additional duties such as structural fire fighting, aircraft handling, heavy equipment operation, and maintenance of facilities and equipment, or serve as a member of a team to cope with natural disasters or civil emergencies. Complies with safety, fire, security, and housekeeping regulations. Performs other duties as assigned. GENERAL EXPERIENCE is experience or training which demonstrates the applicant's knowledge of electrical or electronic theory, knowledge of common testing procedures, skill in the use of hand tools of the electronics trade, and skill in reading schematics. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE is experience which is directly related to the position to be filled and which has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. WG-10 • Must have at least 18 months of experience or training in utilizing principles, basic functions, and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Resume must have complete dates and hours worked per week for each occurrence of both civilian and military employment (Example: 2 JAN 1980 to 3 MAR 1981; 0800-1630 M-F or JAN 1980 to MAR 1981; 40 hrs/wk) Use of year only will result in disqualification. Your record of experience and/or training must show possession of the following knowledge, skills and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position: • Thorough knowledge of operating electronic principles such as micro-miniaturized digital and solid state integrated circuits, transistors, diodes, antennas, signal transmission, oscillation, and amplification. • Knowledge of standard troubleshooting techniques in order to troubleshoot and repair malfunctions where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation, not only of individual circuits but also the interaction of other circuits. • Skill in determining repair procedures and parts required to complete repair work. Uses special and common hand tools, power tools and gauges to complete repairs and modifications. • Skill in reading and applying technical manuals and bulletins, work orders, customary trade practices, and electronics drawings and schematics for guidance in completing diagnostic and troubleshooting tasks. Knowledge of the Army Maintenance Management System (TAMMS) and other publications or directives as may be applicable to the function. • Skill in using a variety of test equipment such as oscilloscopes, frequency counter, signal generators, voltmeters, multimeters and specialized test sets to diagnose and troubleshoot malfunctions. • Thorough knowledge of aircraft electrical systems and their interrelationship with hydraulic, armament, avionics, instrument, environmental control, and mechanical systems and assemblies. PHYSICAL EFFORT / WORKING CONDITIONS • You must be able to exert physical effort and perform under working conditions as described below. Physical effort involves lifting components and equipment, also working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Items lifted generally weigh up to 40 pounds. Assistance is usually available with heavier items. Frequent standing, walking, bending, crouching, reaching, and stooping is required. Work is performed inside in well-lighted, heated and ventilated areas or on the aircraft in restricted places, where conditions of heat or cold may occur. Occasionally works outside in inclement weather. Subject to injuries such as electrical shock, cuts and bruises, as well as burns caused by electrical or radio frequency energy, or by soldering irons. Works in high noise environment.
