If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team that is responsible for planning, implementing and administrating the full spectrum of budget and financial management activities for the Western District of Wisconsin. Typical work assignments will include: Planning, implementing and administrating the full spectrum of budget and financial management activities for the district, including Program Administration, Management Advisory Services, and Internal Controls and Audits. Developing and maintaining a comprehensive financial management program that involves both long-range programmatic plans and the annual budget as a key segment of those plans. Advising management team on programmatic effectiveness relative to planned financial objectives. Providing positive recommendations and alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, cost of operations, and program accomplishments. Managing the certification of obligations for the district. Ensuring all financial records, i.e., obligations, expenditures, delivery status and available balances, are accurate and supported with proper fund control documentation. GS-12: To be eligible at the GS-12 level, you must have at least one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level. Specialized experience is defined as experience developing, implementing and/or maintaining a comprehensive financial management system; providing financial and managerial data to control budget execution in achieving short and long-range management plans; advising management team on recommendations and/or alternative approaches to improve program plans, budget proposals, costs of operations and program accomplishments; reviewing and analyzing past obligations, determining reasonable fund levels and evaluating validity of request; and providing a wide variety of budget reporting, including monthly financial and quarterly reports. Career Transition Assistance Plan (CTAP)-The CTAP provides eligible surplus and displaced competitive service employees in the Department of Justice with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies.
