Working directly with clients, this role determines what needs to be learned, identifies the right research approach, and designs studies that connect the business question to a clear, defensible recommendation. When deeper statistical design, modeling, or analysis is needed, the Senior Director, Technical Researcher collaborates with the Principal, Market Research Scientist. Primary Objectives Serve as Prodege's senior expert for complex research challenges, establishing methodological standards that support data quality, consistency, and comparability across research programs. Own the research thinking from client discovery through study design, interpretation, and recommendations. Advance Prodege's research capabilities by identifying opportunities to apply advanced analytics and emerging research approaches. Detailed Job Duties Translate complex business and research questions into sound research designs, considering the methodology, study structure, data requirements, and respondent experience. Design advanced quantitative research using approaches like segmentation, MaxDiff/conjoint, pricing research, experimental design, and longitudinal research. Set methodological and data-quality standards across studies, trackers, and markets to support consistency, comparability, and reliable interpretation. Review questionnaires, programming specifications, and study designs before fieldwork to identify potential methodological, data quality, comparability, or respondent-experience issues. Apply a strong working knowledge of statistics, sampling, weighting, normalization, significance testing, and experimental design, and know when deeper statistical expertise is needed. Can identify, specify, and defend weighting approaches with clients and understands complex sample analysis Collaborates with the Principal, Market Research Scientist when work requires deeper statistical design, modeling, advanced weighting methodology, trend analysis, or validation. Lead client conversations on research strategy and methodology, translating technical issues, recommended approaches, tradeoffs, and limitations into clear terms. Evaluate data patterns and study performance for potential issues, including incidence shifts, speeding, straightlining, survey satisfaction, length of interview, and other indicators of data quality or respondent experience. Gather and assess new technical requirements and implementation requests, and translate research needs into clear requirements for Sampling, Programming, Data Visualization, Product, Engineering, and other execution teams. Lead interpretation of findings and translate complex results into business implications and recommendations people can act on. Evaluate emerging methodologies, technologies, and data sources that could strengthen Prodege's research capabilities, and mentor researchers and analysts on advanced methodology and research design. What Success Looks Like Success looks like stronger research designs, better business recommendations, trusted client relationships, and Prodege's ability to take on more complex research challenges. This person also raises the broader research organization's methodological capabilities by sharing expertise, establishing strong practices, and developing other researchers. The MUST Haves Bachelor's degree in Market Research, Marketing, Psychology, Sociology, Economics, Business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred. 10+ years designing and leading quantitative market research, including complex custom engagements. Deep practical expertise across multiple advanced research methodologies, including segmentation, MaxDiff/conjoint, pricing research, experimental design, and longitudinal research. A track record of turning ambiguous business questions into strong research strategies and clearly explaining the reasoning, trade-offs, and limitations behind them. Expert questionnaire design and measurement skills, along with a strong working knowledge of statistics, sampling, weighting, research data quality, and experimental design. Experience leading senior client conversations and turning complex research findings into clear business implications and actionable recommendations. Proven ability to work across multidisciplinary teams to execute complex research. Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to make sophisticated research concepts clear to technical and non-technical audiences. The Nice to Haves Experience combining survey research with behavioral, transactional, first-party, or third-party data. Experience building new research methodologies, frameworks, products, or research offerings. Experience with Sawtooth or other advanced research platforms. Experience with emerging approaches like AI-assisted research, synthetic data, or advanced experimentation. Publications, conference talks, webinars, or other contributions to the market research industry. Pay Transparency: The anticipated salary range for this position is $155,000 to $170,000. The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include, but are not limited to; the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, the type and length of knowledge and skills for the position, education, training, etc. Prodege is a multi-state employer and final compensation within this range could be impacted by work location. Please note that the compensation details listed in US role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, equity, or benefits.
