Tower Technician III

Purpose Job Description The Tower Technician III serves as a senior-level field technician responsible for the build, maintenance, and troubleshooting of wireless communications structures, including cell towers, small cells, and oDAS systems. This role requires advanced tower-climbing skills, strong technical knowledge in RF systems, and the ability to operate as a top hand or technical lead supporting the Tower Foreman. Tower Technician III must be capable of leading a two-person tiger team for maintenance and integration work, performing PIM and sweep testing, and ensuring all installations meet quality and safety standards prior to site turnover. Responsibilities Perform installation, repair, and maintenance of cell towers, antennas, radios, lines, and related wireless infrastructure. Support the Tower Foreman as the top hand on the tower or as the RF technical lead during integration and testing. Conduct PIM, sweep, and line testing to ensure system performance and troubleshoot as necessary. Execute integration, commissioning, and turn-up of carrier systems including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and Sprint. Lead a two-man tiger team for maintenance, troubleshooting, and small project deployments. Maintain accurate and detailed site documentation, test results, and daily reports. Follow and enforce safety protocols, ensuring all work meets OSHA and company standards. Inspect and verify quality of installations prior to site completion and turnover. Operate company vehicles safely and maintain equipment in proper working condition. Collaborate with subcontractors, safety personnel, and customers in a professional manner. Key Measures / Key Performance Indicators Job quality and adherence to safety standards On-time project completion and accuracy of site documentation Successful PIM/sweep testing and system integrations Customer satisfaction and zero rework metrics Reliability and productivity of tiger team assignments Requirements Education: Minimum 2 years of continuous experience as a Tower Technician or RF Technician required. Experience Experience with AT&T, Verizon, Sprint, and T-Mobile installations and integrations strongly preferred. Must possess valid driver’s license and meet company driving eligibility (minimum age 19). Must have the ability to be ComTrain certified Ability to climb, work at heights, and perform physically demanding tasks for extended periods. Proficient with PIM, sweep, and RF test equipment. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, and MOPs. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to travel frequently to job sites and work overtime, nights, or weekends as needed. Strong computer skills and proficiency with testing software, reporting tools, and email communication. Exposure Daily coordination with Tower Foremen, Project Managers, and Safety personnel. Regular interaction with customers, subcontractors, and carrier representatives. Exposure to high-altitude work environments, weather conditions, and electrical equipment. Physical Requirements Ability to climb and work at heights Regularly required to sit, stand, kneel, stoop, and lift up to 75 lbs. Must be able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions for extended hours. Visual and auditory acuity sufficient for safe climbing, rigging, and equipment operation.
