Pharmacy technicians at this grade level may be assigned as a coordinator in areas requiring detailed regulatory oversight and record keeping including, but not limited to the Controlled Substance Program, Research/Investigational Drug Program, Procurement, Automation & Informatics program, Quality/Patient Safety, Clinical or Call Center. Analyzes data for self-driven (independent) performance improvement projects, workload analysis, and statistical reports. Solves problems and implements corrective actions to maximize outcomes in their program area. Maintains special accreditations and prepares for national reviews/inspections (e.g., The Joint Commission, Inspector General, American Society of Health-System Pharmacists®, controlled substance inspections). AND GS 9 Knowledge Skills and Abilities- In addition to meeting the to the experience above, the candidate must demonstrate the following KSAs and meet any additional KSAs for the assignment, if indicated: Expert knowledge serving as a key resource advising others in their particular specialty area or section of the pharmacy (such as procurement, sterile compounding (USP compounding standards), controlled substances DEA, automation, clinical pharmacy, lead tech, contact center, etc.). Skill in analyzing data for self-driven (independent) performance improvement projects, workload analysis and statistical reports. Skill in solving problems and implementing corrective actions to maximize outcomes in their program area. Ability to maintain special accreditations and prepare for national reviews/inspections (e.g., The Joint Commission, Inspector General, American Society of Health System Pharmacists®, controlled substance inspections). Ability to develop training programs and material for orientation, competency development and educational needs for regulatory requirements within the specialized pharmacy program area. Preferred Experience: Minimum of 2 years experience as a pharmacy technician Compounding and dispensing sterile intravenous medications, particularly antibiotics, in accordance with USP <797> standards. Experience in supporting outpatient or home infusion therapy programs, including direct involvement in OPAT processes. Experience utilizing electronic health records such as CPRS, VISTA or equivalent systems for documenting ad coordinating patient care. Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams including pharmacists, nurses and physicians to support patient monitoring, medication management, and transition of care. Experience in educating patients and or caregivers regarding medication administration, safe handling and storage of parenteral therapies. Experience managing medication inventory, supply logistics, and safe transportation / storage of temperature-sensitive products. Experience in collecting entering and reporting date related to antimicrobial therapy, adverse events, or OPAT program outcomes.
