Software Engineer

HeyHuddl

Software Engineer (Remote) — HeyHuddl Full-stack • Next.js + FastAPI • Remote (Türkiye preferred, worldwide considered) • Contractor to start, with a path to a long-term role and equity What HeyHuddl is HeyHuddl is an AI meeting partner. It joins your Zoom, Google Meet, or Microsoft Teams calls in real time, listens, reasons, and contributes, so teams leave meetings with decisions instead of another meeting on the calendar. After the call, the same context flows straight into chat, voice, and screen-share sessions for solo work and into shared documents the team drafts together. Most people today bounce between a notetaker, a separate LLM, and a doc tool, and glue them together by hand. We are collapsing that into one product: meeting notes and AI chat in a single experience, whether you are working alone or with a group. We are a small, founder-led company. The CEO is a serial entrepreneur, executive search firm owner, and early-stage investor. The CTO is an architect and builder who wrote the product you would be working in. An AI/NLP researcher advises us on language and human-centered AI. We are currently raising our first round, and engineering capacity is one of the first things that money goes toward, which is why this role exists. The role You will be the second engineer, working directly with the founding engineer. Your job is to expand what we can ship each week across the web UI and the backend it talks to. You will own scoped features end to end, from a loosely defined request through the UI, the API, the workers, and Postgres, to a shipped change with a test that proves it works. You will fix bugs by reproducing them first and following the pattern that is already in the codebase. You will reuse our design system rather than inventing new components. Over time you will grow into owning a product area, including its incoming user issues, and you will document what you build so it can be handed off. A lot of the job is communication. You will work with nontechnical stakeholders, turn vague asks into the smallest correct change, and explain tradeoffs, risks, and progress in plain language. Our stack Next.js (App Router), React, TypeScript, and Tailwind on the front end. Async Python with FastAPI, background workers, and Postgres on the back end. Real-time features run over SSE and WebSockets. We use Clerk for auth, Stripe for billing, Radix for primitives, and SWR or React Query for data fetching. Speech recognition runs through Speechmatics. We use AI coding tools heavily and expect you to as well. What we need from you You have shipped React and TypeScript to production. You are comfortable making ordinary changes in async Python (FastAPI) and Postgres. You are a strong debugger who reproduces first and works with the grain of the existing code. You notice interface details, such as alignment, hover and loading states, and empty states, without being told. You are a heavy user of AI coding tools and can debug everything you ship with them. Your written English is strong (using AI to help is fine), and your spoken English is good enough to work through a problem on a call. What would make you stand out Experience building LLM-powered product features. Interest in expanding the product into new touchpoints such as a Chrome extension or a mobile app. Hands-on time with SWR or React Query, Radix, Clerk, Stripe, or SSE/WebSockets. Product instincts: prototyping quickly, empathy for the user, pragmatic prioritization, and ownership of outcomes. The biggest plus is having shipped a full product yourself and being able to explain the problem, the design choices you made, and what happened. Who does well here Friendly and upbeat. Team-oriented. Hard-working. Comfortable with ambiguity and with being one of two engineers where your work is visible in the product the same week. Compensation and structure This is a contractor engagement to start at $10–15 USD per hour, full-time hours. We prefer candidates based in Türkiye for time-zone overlap with the founding engineer, but we will consider strong remote candidates anywhere. If the relationship works, there is a path to a long-term role and equity participation as the company grows.
