This position is located in the Pentagon Force Protection Agency, Law Enforcement Directorate, Pentagon Police Division. As a Police Officer, the primary responsibilities are for force protection, security, and law enforcement in the NCR for the people, facilities, infrastructure, and other resources at the Pentagon Facilities.
Incumbent typical work assignments may include the following: Serves as a Supervisory Police Officer responsible for planning, administering, and supervising law enforcement operations which includes security operations in the Pentagon and various NCR locations. The incumbent is responsible for all aspects of the Tactical Medical Program, ensuring all full time and part time tactical medics are proficiently trained and certified. The incumbent is responsible for rapid deployment to contain, control and neutralize any threat to the safety and welfare of the Secretary of War and the DoW community or property when incident such as criminal attack, armed intrusion, hostage taking, sniper or terrorist attacks, weapons of mass destruction, civil disobedience or barricade situations. The incumbent serves as the Tactical Medic during all Counter Assault Team Operations and related training.
Additional Conditions of Employment: Police Officers assigned to 'Special Units" may be eligible for an additional 6% supplement (Special Unit Pay) upon successful completion of required training. Retention in this position is contingent upon meeting PFPA medical standards and performing duties required by the Tactical Medical Team (TMT) Special Unit. This position is identified as a covered position under the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) Civilian Mobility Program, Regulation 1400.24, effective September 28, 2015. Retention in this position is contingent in maintaining Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or higher certification from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians or a State level accrediting body. Applicants shall possess the following certifications within 24 months of appointment to position:
• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider
• U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) CONTOMS EMT-T Tactical Provider
• Tactical Emergency Casualty Care (TECC) Instructor
• Accredited Police or EMS Field Training Officer (FTO)
• Active Shooter Incident Management (ASJM)
• Vehicle Extrication In order to qualify for this position, you must meet the requirements described below. You may qualify at the AD-9 level, if you fulfill the following qualification requirement: One year of specialized experience in the same or similar work equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (AD-7) requiring application of the knowledge, skills, and abilities of the positions being filled. Candidates for this position must clearly demonstrate in their resume that they possess specialized experience in 1) protecting the health of a tactical team in harsh environments, including managing hydration, nutrition, and exposure to chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear (CBRN) hazards; 2) safely and rapidly extracting and evacuating injured personnel from a tactical or hostile environment; 3) planning and coordinating medical support for high-risk operations, dignitary protection missions, and special events; 4) utilizing tactical medical policies and protective SOPs to ensure seamless integration and coordination during operations. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). You must include a completed copy of the Retained Grade PPP Self-Certification Checklist (DD-3145-1) to verify your eligibility for Retained Grade preference.
