The first approximately six months will primarily be based in Burlingame, CA to support manufacturing ramp-up, with periodic travel to Burlingame required thereafter. We are backed by strategic investment and product partners such as TDK Ventures and Eclipse Ventures.&nbsp; We are a team of engineers, operators, entrepreneurs, and partners driven by a shared ambition to set the new performance standard for renewable energy and grid resilience.&nbsp; &nbsp; About the Role – EH&amp;S Manager&nbsp; The EH&amp;S&nbsp;Manager&nbsp;will&nbsp;identify&nbsp;gaps and&nbsp;develop, continuously improve, and implement EH&amp;S programs to effectively manage risk and ensure ongoing compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations at&nbsp;Peak Energy’s&nbsp;facilities in&nbsp;California&nbsp;and&nbsp;Denver.&nbsp;If you have a wide base of EH&amp;S systems familiarity and experience but yearn to “go back in time” and be available to kick off the safety and environmental compliance culture within an organization&nbsp;at the formation stages of the business&nbsp;than this is the position you’ve dreamed about.&nbsp; The EH&amp;S&nbsp;Manager&nbsp;will own the initiation of a positive EH&amp;S culture in a fast-paced, high growth company&nbsp;environment with world class technical leaders in the exciting battery energy storage manufacturing environment.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; What&nbsp;You’ll&nbsp;Do (Responsibilities)&nbsp; Proficient in basic project management.Responsible for identifying initiatives, establish project plans and resource requirements, obtain stakeholder and management buy-in, and successfully drive projects to completion. Leads EH&amp;S projects and provides project guidance to engineers, scientists, and technicians.&nbsp; Develops, implements, and continuously improves EHS policies, standards and procedures&nbsp;required&nbsp;to&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;regulatory compliance. Works collaboratively with stakeholders to develop practical strategies to ensure successful program implementation while supporting stakeholder&nbsp;objectives.&nbsp; Develops and delivers meaningful and relevant EH&amp;S training as required by internal and external requirements.&nbsp; Develops capabilities, systems,&nbsp;standards&nbsp;and processes to&nbsp;maintain&nbsp;compliance with EH&amp;S regulations with input from key stakeholders.&nbsp; Manages EHS risk by conducting audits and risk assessments, developing tactics to reduce&nbsp;risk to&nbsp;tolerable levels, and&nbsp;leveraging&nbsp;industry best practices to&nbsp;identify&nbsp;and address current and future risks.&nbsp; Ensures&nbsp;compliance with applicable EHS regulatory requirements&nbsp;thereby&nbsp;always&nbsp;maintaining&nbsp;the business as “audit ready”.&nbsp;Tracks and&nbsp;trends&nbsp;compliance gaps and works with key stakeholders to ensure compliance and prevent reoccurrence. &nbsp; Improves the EH&amp;S culture by working cross-functionally with colleagues and senior leaders to build a culture that embraces proactivity and integrates EHS processes into the business.&nbsp; Identifies&nbsp;and leads EH&amp;S business process improvement initiatives in support of our mission and&nbsp;objectives.&nbsp; Makes decisions with minimal input and guidance. Seeks input from&nbsp;Peak Leadership&nbsp;and other experts as needed.&nbsp; Supports emergency preparedness, response, recovery, and business continuity.&nbsp;&nbsp; Conducts EH&amp;S risk/hazard assessments&nbsp;for new equipment and tools prior to installation. Works with stakeholders to ensure all equipment brought into the facility&nbsp;meets&nbsp;applicable&nbsp;local,&nbsp;state, and federal requirements.&nbsp;Facilitates&nbsp;equipment&nbsp;Pre-Start Up Safety Reviews (PSSR)&nbsp;companywide.&nbsp; Leads EH&amp;S audit/inspection program and gap assessments. Documents findings and tracks them to closure.&nbsp; Compiles and&nbsp;documents&nbsp;EHS metrics and other relevant technical data.&nbsp; Contributes to the development of manufacturing, maintenance, and R&amp;D procedures and safe work practices with regards to:&nbsp; Process scale-up, process safety, and technology development&nbsp; EH&amp;S specifications of new process equipment&nbsp; Design and start-up of new processes&nbsp; Identifies&nbsp;applicable regulatory permits and programs the company must&nbsp;attain&nbsp;and/or&nbsp;comply with&nbsp;for operations.&nbsp;&nbsp;Compiles and&nbsp;submits&nbsp;compliance documents including but not limited to: Hazardous Materials Business Plan, Air Quality Permits and Annual Report, Storm Water Annual Report, and Site Emergency&nbsp;Response&nbsp;Plan.&nbsp;&nbsp; Maintains contact with regulatory agencies as assigned.&nbsp;&nbsp; Maintains EH&amp;S records as required by law and company policies.&nbsp; Contributes to or leads incident investigations and identification of corrective and preventive actions.&nbsp; Other duties as assigned.&nbsp; &nbsp; What&nbsp;You’ll&nbsp;Bring (Qualifications):&nbsp; Master’s degree&nbsp;and 5 years of relevant work experience in battery, semi-conductor, chemical&nbsp;manufacturing&nbsp;or similar industry preferred OR Bachelor’s Degree and 7 years of relevant work experience in battery, semi-conductor, chemical&nbsp;manufacturing&nbsp;or similar industry preferred.&nbsp; 3+&nbsp;years experience&nbsp;overseeing EHS compliance on&nbsp;new facility/equipment installation&nbsp;construction projects and providing design input to minimize/eliminate EHS risk associated with the finished project.&nbsp; Demonstrated experience and initiative to start new program level compliance activities from the ground up.&nbsp; &nbsp; Preferred&nbsp;Qualifications:&nbsp; Certification in industrial hygiene (CIH), safety (CSP), and/or ergonomics (CIE or CPE) strongly preferred&nbsp; Experience with ISO 14001 or&nbsp;ISO 45001 certification.&nbsp; &nbsp; Peak Energy is committed to building a diverse and inclusive workforce.
