Position Overview The Class A Driver is responsible for the safe, timely, and efficient transportation of freight, including both deliveries and pickups. This position requires adherence to all safety regulations, proper operation and maintenance of company equipment, and a professional attitude that reflects positively on the company. Drivers are expected to work collaboratively with team members while maintaining high standards of service and reliability. Required Qualifications Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Minimum of one (1) year of tractor-trailer driving experience Ability to read, write, and perform basic mathematical calculations Capability to accurately complete receipts, logs, maps, and related documents Knowledge of vehicle safety systems and operational controls Safe and professional driving history Must meet or exceed all U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) medical standards Understanding of public safety and security procedures, policies, and regulations Working knowledge of DOT requirements, including Hours of Service (HOS), inspections, and equipment maintenance standards Essential Responsibilities Complete freight pickups and deliveries in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner Transport freight to and from designated customer locations Properly connect and disconnect trailers, including operation of landing gear Conduct detailed pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip vehicle inspections Develop and follow efficient delivery routes Maintain company equipment in a clean and serviceable condition Serve as a professional representative of Southern Tier Logistics when interacting with customers and the public Complete and submit daily trip documentation accurately and on time Ensure Bills of Lading (BOLs) are correctly signed, processed, and submitted Operate all equipment safely while remaining compliant with applicable transportation regulations Follow OSHA, state, federal, and company safety requirements Maintain a current and valid CDL license Report all accidents, incidents, or injuries involving personnel or equipment immediately Communicate promptly with dispatch regarding delays, breakdowns, weather-related issues, or emergencies Perform other job-related duties as assigned Work Environment & Physical Requirements The conditions and physical demands listed below are representative of those typically encountered in this position.
