About this role   As a SCADA Engineer on Intersect's Operations team, you'll provide hands-on support for the real-time operational control systems, telemetry pipelines, and SCADA infrastructure that power our utility-scale clean energy fleet, working closely with and in support of the Control Room. You'll be hands-on day-to-day — maintaining systems, adjusting control parameters, and troubleshooting issues — to ensure high availability across our multi-tech assets, while supporting critical ISO dispatch interfaces, field hardware integration, and OT network security. Partnering closely with trading, engineering, and field operations, you'll play a key role in supporting fleet uptime and operational reliability.   Team overview   This team plays a critical role in advancing Intersect's mission to accelerate the clean energy transition. The Operations team manages, monitors, and optimizes Intersect's growing fleet of energy assets around the clock. Joining this team means driving operational resilience, supporting enterprise SCADA standards, and collaborating with top-tier technical talent dedicated to long-term reliability and performance.   What You'll Do   Provide Hands-On SCADA Support and Maintenance Maintain and troubleshoot Ignition SCADA HMIs, alarm modules, and control workflows for utility-scale solar PV and BESS facilities, including hands-on control parameter adjustments and logic fixes Diagnose and resolve plant communications and control system issues under time-sensitive conditions Support and extend the Canary Labs high-speed time-series historian for real-time archiving, performance trending, and operational analytics Ensure high system availability and rapid root-cause analysis, providing as-needed escalation support for forced outages, trips, and critical telemetry loss   Support IOC Build-Out and Ongoing Operations Support the ongoing build-out of Intersect's Integrated Operations Center (IOC) from an operational standpoint, applying and helping maintain established standards for data mapping, alarm management, HMI configuration, and version control Support ISO telemetry and field hardware integration efforts across ERCOT, including protocols such as ICCP, DNP3, Modbus, and MQTT (Sparkplug B) Assist in programming and troubleshooting SEL RTACs, PLCs, protection relays, and Power Plant Controllers (PPC) Support FAT, SAT, and commissioning activities, including telemetry validation, for new sites entering real-time operations   Work With and Support OT Security and Compliance Work with OT network segmentation practices and support firewall-related tasks (Palo Alto/Fortinet) as needed Maintain awareness of NERC CIP compliance standards and access control policies in day-to-day work   Support Operational Excellence and Fleet Standards Apply standardized practices for data management, HMI configuration, and alarm handling across operational facilities Partner cross-functionally to optimize system visibility and response times Contribute to ongoing improvements in reliability and performance across the fleet   What you'll bring   Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Systems Engineering, or equivalent technical discipline. 3–5+ years of hands-on SCADA and controls experience supporting control room operations for utility-scale solar PV, BESS, or high-voltage substation assets. Demonstrated expertise developing and maintaining Inductive Automation Ignition SCADA platforms and HMI interfaces. Proven proficiency with industrial communications protocols and ISO telemetry including ICCP, DNP3, Modbus, MQTT (Sparkplug B), and IEC 61850 in ERCOT, CAISO, or PJM markets. Direct experience programming and troubleshooting SEL RTACs, PLCs, protection relays, and Power Plant Controllers. Willingness and ability to participate in an on-call rotation to respond to forced outages, grid trips, and critical telemetry loss. Experience supporting or maintaining a Canary Labs historian (or comparable industrial time-series historian) in a production SCADA environment. Familiarity with Palo Alto/Fortinet firewalls and NERC CIP compliance requirements. Strong technical composure and problem-solving mindset under high-stakes operational pressure.
