Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Cargo Van Driver role based in Chicago, IL The Cargo Van Driver is responsible for safely operating a cargo van to pick up, transport, and deliver goods to various locations according to scheduled routes. Daily tasks include loading and unloading cargo, securing items to prevent damage, and verifying delivery documentation such as manifests and receipts. The role involves planning efficient routes, following traffic laws and company safety protocols, and maintaining communication with dispatch or supervisors about delivery status and any delays. The driver will also conduct basic vehicle inspections, report maintenance needs, and interact professionally with customers and partners during pickups and deliveries. Qualifications Ability to operate a cargo van safely, including experience with local and regional driving and adherence to traffic and safety regulations. Strong organizational and time-management skills to plan routes, meet delivery schedules, and handle multiple stops efficiently. Capacity for manual handling tasks, including safe lifting, loading, unloading, and securing various types of cargo. Attention to detail for checking delivery documentation, verifying orders, and accurately recording delivery and pickup information. Effective communication and customer service skills to interact professionally with dispatch, colleagues, and clients. Basic vehicle maintenance awareness, including conducting pre-trip inspections and reporting mechanical issues promptly. Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently with minimal supervision in varying weather and traffic conditions. Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; prior experience in delivery or transportation roles is an asset. Familiarity and comfort using GPS or routing applications. Ability to follow company policies, including health and safety procedures and any applicable regulatory requirements.
