INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (DATAMGT)

This position is part of the Defense Security Cooperation Agency. The incumbent will be responsible for Technical lead for enterprise RDBMS design, deployment, and admin in secure cloud (e.g., AWS GovCloud); planned on-prem to cloud migrations; designed automated backup/recovery/HA/monitoring; optimized performance via diagnostics and query tuning; implemented NIST/DISA STIG security controls and vulnerability remediation. As a INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST (DATAMGT) at the GS-2210-13 some of your typical work assignments may include: Serves as the authoritative Subject Matter Expert (SME) and project lead for enterprise data initiatives, providing technical governance and architectural oversight on complex data modernization efforts. Directs the full system development lifecycle (SDLC) of relational database management systems (RDBMS) in secure AWS GovCloud environments across development, testing, staging, and mission-critical production tiers. Formulates and executes data migration plans to securely transition mission-critical legacy and on-premises databases to scalable AWS cloud platforms. Establishes and oversees continuous operational monitoring, high availability (HA), proactive disaster recovery, automated backups, and rigorous business continuity procedures. Applies advanced diagnostics, telemetry, and performance tuning methodologies to resolve complex database performance issues, optimize SQL queries, and ensure efficient resource utilization. Provides advanced tier-three technical support, consulting with cross-functional development teams, systems administrators, and business stakeholders on schema design, data modeling, and operational integration. Enforces federal cybersecurity mandates, vulnerability remediation protocols, and continuous monitoring controls in coordination with cybersecurity personnel to uphold FISMA, NIST, and agency security policies. You may qualify at the GS-13, if you fulfill the following qualifications: A. One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal service: Serving as a technical lead for the design, deployment, and ongoing administration of enterprise Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS) in a secure cloud environment (such as AWS GovCloud); Planning database migrations from on-premises systems to cloud-hosted infrastructure; Designing automated database backup, recovery, high availability, and real-time monitoring solutions; Conducting complex database performance diagnostics, profiling, and query optimization to remediate operational bottlenecks; Implementing federal or enterprise cyber security controls, vulnerability assessments, and remediation plans (e.g., NIST, DISA STIGs, or equivalent security frameworks).
