SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST

You will serve as a SUPERVISORY PHYSICAL SCIENTIST in the Deputy Director for the Oceanographic Department, NP3 of NAVOCEANO BAY ST LOUIS. You will review and execute recruitment actions, provide recommendation for new hires and promotions in accordance with merit systems principles. You will resolve employee disputes and conduct issues, mentors, coaches, and effects disciplinary actions as needed to ensure a positive and professional work environment. You will ensure the processing and transmission of collected data, the preparation and production of oceanographic products, interpretive reports, and publications. You will oversee the personnel of the Department and provides direct administrative and technical supervision to Division level supervisors, oceanographers and physical scientists, and staff. In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-13 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Experience in advanced marine sciences, including oceanography, ocean dynamics, and complex data assimilation methods. Experience utilizing cutting-edge computer methods for numerical environmental analysis and predictive modeling. Experience providing strategic supervision and leadership to guide high-performing scientific and production teams. Experience leading high-impact innovation and developing long-range plans aligned with organizational missions. Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess General Physical Science Series, 1301 Individual Occupational Requirements Basic Requirements: Degree: physical science, engineering, or mathematics that included 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science such as mechanics, dynamics, properties of materials, and electronics. or Combination of education and experience -- education equivalent to one of the majors shown in A above that included at least 24 semester hours in physical science and/or related engineering science, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
