# Staff Accountant

firstPRO, Inc

A growing company in the Philadelphia suburbs is adding a Staff Accountant to their team. Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this position offers broad exposure to general accounting, financial reporting, reconciliations, close activities, regulatory compliance, and process improvement. This is a great opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who wants to build a strong foundation, take on meaningful responsibility, and work alongside an experienced finance team. What You’ll Do Prepare, review, and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation Perform bank and general ledger reconciliations and investigate discrepancies Support the monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes Record and reconcile insurance-related cash activity, including premium payments, commissions, and return premiums Prepare invoices related to agency receivables and deductible recoveries Monitor outstanding receivables and maintain accurate aging records Assist with regulatory reporting, tax filings, and other compliance requirements Provide documentation and support for internal and external audits Help maintain effective internal controls and ensure the accounting function remains audit-ready Analyze financial information and identify opportunities to improve existing processes Participate in special projects, system initiatives, and other accounting activities as needed What We’re Looking For Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance 1-2 years of general accounting experience Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and accounting software; Workday experience is a plus Interest in identifying process improvements and opportunities for automation CPA or progress toward the CPA is preferred Insurance industry experience is a plus
