Project Manager- Design/Build- Arlington Heights, IL

Position Overview Flowtec is partnered with one of Chicago’s leading general contractors to appoint a Project Manager for its growing design-build team. This is an opportunity to join a highly respected, financially secure contractor with an outstanding reputation across the Chicagoland market. The company delivers complex ground-up and renovation projects across the commercial, light industrial, healthcare, education, municipal and mixed-use sectors. The Project Manager will lead projects from the earliest stages of design and preconstruction through construction and closeout. With a true design-build model, this position offers far greater involvement in design development, estimating, constructability and overall project strategy than a traditional construction management role. Projects typically range from $10 million to more than $75 million, with the majority located throughout Chicagoland. Responsibilities Manage design-build projects from initial concept through final completion Coordinate closely with internal design, preconstruction and field teams Lead owner, architect, engineer and subcontractor meetings Oversee project budgets, schedules, contracts, procurement and financial reporting Review design documents for constructability, cost and schedule implications Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders and project documentation Partner with the Superintendent to develop and maintain the project schedule Identify potential risks early and implement practical solutions Maintain strong relationships with owners, consultants and trade partners Mentor Assistant Project Managers and Project Engineers Ensure projects are completed safely, profitably and to the highest quality standards Requirements At least five years of project management experience with a general contractor Experience delivering ground-up commercial construction projects Strong understanding of preconstruction, design development and project financials Design-build experience is preferred Excellent communication, organization and leadership skills Proficiency with platforms such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project or similar Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or a related field is preferred What’s Offered Competitive base salary Annual performance bonus Vehicle allowance and mileage reimbursement Comprehensive medical, dental and vision coverage 401(k) with company contribution Generous PTO and paid holidays Local Chicagoland project portfolio with limited travel Direct access to senior leadership Strong internal support from design, estimating and field operations Clear progression toward Senior Project Manager and Project Executive Long-term stability with one of Chicago’s most established general contractors
